A simple contribution from Humanity Pharmacy to Bor State Hospital is already transforming care for patients. What started as a comment on Facebook has grown into a life-saving intervention that is making a real difference.
In a public post, a doctor working at Bor State Hospital shared a concern that despite treating many diabetic patients, the hospital did not have a glucometer. Patients were often referred to private clinics for testing which was an expensive option that many could not afford. Responding to the appeal, Humanity Pharmacy reached out and committed to providing support.
Soon after, the pharmacy donated three glucometers and test strips to the hospital. Before this, checking patients’ blood sugar levels was not always possible due to limited equipment. Now, health workers can quickly and accurately assess patients, enabling faster and more effective treatment.
The impact was immediate. Just days after receiving the devices, a patient arrived in critical condition with dangerously low blood sugar, recorded at only 38 mg/dl. With the new equipment in place, health workers were able to identify the condition right away and take timely action, ultimately saving a life.
This experience shows how even a single voice raised online can spark meaningful change. It is a powerful reminder that small actions, when met with compassion and partnership, can lead to life-saving solutions for communities in South Sudan.
