When a Community Treats You Like the "Forgotten Part"
There is a saying I once heard from someone believed to be from Pakeer Payam in Twic East County. The saying compares human relationships to someone who carefully bathes and applies lotion to every visible part of the body but deliberately neglects the buttocks because "no one will see them." At first, it may sound humorous, but it carries a profound lesson.
The truth is that every part of the body matters. A person may ignore the buttocks because they are hidden, yet the moment they become inflamed or develop an abscess, the entire body suffers. Suddenly, the neglected part becomes the center of attention. Pain reminds us that what we considered unimportant was, in fact, essential.
The same principle applies to families, organizations, and communities. When certain individuals or groups are constantly ignored, undervalued, or treated as though they do not matter, it creates hurt and resentment. A community that only values people when it needs them is building division instead of unity.
Every member deserves dignity, respect, and inclusion. No one should be treated as though they are invisible simply because their contribution is less noticeable. Communities grow stronger when every voice is heard and every person is appreciated.
If you find yourself in a place where you are consistently disrespected, excluded, or treated as though your presence has no value, it is wise to reflect on whether that environment is healthy for you. Sometimes, walking away from a place that refuses to recognize your worth is not an act of pride—it is an act of self-respect.
A healthy community understands that every member is important, just as every part of the human body is important. Neglecting one part eventually affects the whole. Respect, unity, and mutual appreciation are the foundation of lasting peace and progress.
Moral: Never underestimate people because they seem insignificant today. The people you ignore may one day prove to be the very ones whose value you cannot do without.
