V**e pods sold in Thai bars have been found containing ketamine, methamphetamine and DMT.
Thai authorities have also found etomidate in them, which is a short-acting anaesthetic meant to be given by a doctor with airway equipment in the room. Effects reported from inhaling it include temporary muscle weakness, uncontrolled twitching, hallucinations, and respiratory depression that can stop breathing altogether.
There is no label and no standard. The mix changes between makers, so a pod that seemed fine last week tells you nothing about the next one.
If someone's breathing slows or becomes difficult, they cannot be roused, or they have a seizure, treat it as an emergency and call 1669 immediately. Do not wait to see how it develops.
If you have been using these and want to talk to someone about it, we treat ketamine and methamphetamine dependence, and the first step is an assessment rather than a decision.
