Motion Sickness Patches May Help Manage Postoperative Nausea and Vomiting (PONV)

A randomized controlled trial assessed the efficacy of motion sickness patches in reducing PONV after thyroid surgery. Ultimately, the 24-hour PONV rate was lower in the experimental group than the control group.

Air contamination is linked to intraoperative traffic and the movement of personnel. Indeed, frequent door openings and a large number of individuals in the OR increase contamination through the dispersal of airborne particles, facilitating the entry of microorganisms during the operative or other invasive procedure.

Nurses play a pivotal role in managing such environmental hazards by maintaining sterility, enforcing infection control protocols, and regulating intraoperative movements.
