The emotions your child feels today...
Often begin with just four core emotions.
Happy.
Sad.
Angry.
Scared.
Think about a moment your child experienced recently.
Maybe your child seemed happy...
but was it actually...
Content,
Focused,
Relaxed,
or Calm?
Maybe your child seemed sad...
but was it...
Disappointed,
Lonely,
Hurt,
or Tired?
Maybe your child seemed angry...
but was it...
Frustrated,
Annoyed,
Mad,
or Irritated?
Maybe your child seemed scared...
but was it...
Worried,
Nervous,
Shy,
or Anxious?
When we learn to notice the emotion beneath the behaviour, we respond with more empathy and less frustration.
Emotional intelligence doesn't begin with controlling emotions.
It begins with naming them.
One simple emotion word can change the conversation between you and your child forever.
