Communication doesn't grow in therapy alone. 🌱
One therapy session each week can make a difference.
But hundreds of everyday moments can change everything.
A child asking to join a game.
A parent reading a bedtime story.
A student answering a question in class.
A conversation over coffee.
A presentation at work.
A stroke survivor ordering lunch with confidence.
These are the moments where communication is practised, encouraged, and celebrated.
That's why Speech Life is built around one simple belief:
Communication grows everywhere.
Our role is to help it flourish. šŸ’š

A little about the person behind Speech Life. 🌱
(And yes... the hats were intentional. šŸ˜‰)
Hi, I'm Cecile, the speech-language pathologist behind Speech Life.
For over 10 years, I've had the privilege of supporting children, adults, and families as they build confidence through communication.
Along the way, I've learned something that has shaped the way I practise:
Communication doesn't grow only in therapy.
It grows at home, at school, at work, and in the everyday moments that make up our lives.
That simple belief is at the heart of Speech Life, and it's a privilege to walk alongside my clients as they grow.
Whether you've been here for years or have just discovered Speech Life, thank you for being here. I'm so glad you're part of this community. šŸ’š

🌿Communication grows everywhere
Not just in the therapy room.
It grows at home, at school, at work, and in the everyday moments that shape our lives.
At Speech Life, this belief guides everything we do. We don’t just support communication during therapy—we help create opportunities for it to grow wherever life happens.
Because communication doesn’t stop when therapy ends.
It grows everywhere.

🌿 Welcome to the new Speech Life.
When I started Speech Life, my focus was on providing quality, evidence-based speech therapy.
Over the years, I realized that therapy is just one part of a much bigger picture.
Some of the most meaningful breakthroughs don’t happen during a therapy session.
They happen when parents feel confident enough to try a new strategy at home.
When teachers better understand how to support communication in the classroom.
When adults rediscover confidence after illness.
When the people who matter most feel empowered to support communication every day.
Those moments changed the way I think about my role as a Speech-Language Pathologist.
Today, Speech Life is evolving into a communication practice that extends beyond the therapy room.
Because communication doesn’t grow in therapy alone.
It grows at home, at school, in relationships, and in the everyday moments that make up our lives.
Over the coming weeks, I’ll be sharing the heart behind this rebrand, introducing new services, and giving you a closer look at everything Speech Life has to offer.
This is only the beginning. 🌱

Tomorrow, you’ll meet the new Speech Life.
A new look.
A clearer vision.
The same commitment to helping people communicate with confidence—but in even more meaningful ways.
I can’t wait to share what’s next.

The heart of Speech Life hasn’t changed.
But the way I want to serve children, families, schools, adults, and our community has.
This next chapter is about more than speech therapy.
It’s about helping communication grow wherever life happens.

For the past few months, I’ve been quietly working behind the scenes.
Not just on a new logo... but on a new vision.
Speech Life is growing into something that reflects what I’ve become most passionate about—supporting communication beyond the therapy room.
🌿 3 days to go.
Something beautiful is growing.

Understanding the different types of aphasia helps us better support communication and recovery.

Understanding the different types of aphasia helps us better support communication and recovery.

Over the past few weeks, we’ve shared information about non-fluent types of aphasia. This week, we’re highlighting a fluent type: Wernicke’s Aphasia. People with Wernicke’s Aphasia typically:

• Speak in full sentences that include incorrect or made-up words
• Have difficulty repeating words or phrases
• Have trouble understanding spoken language
• Have near-normal movement in their right arm and leg (sometimes with mild weakness)

For more information about Wernicke's Aphasia, please visit our website at the link in our bio!

Aphasia awareness

Last week, we provided an overview of Broca's Aphasia. Let's highlight another non-fluent type of aphasia, Global Aphasia. People with Global Aphasia typically:

1. Only say a few words
2. Speak in stereotypical utterance (the same word/sounds over and over)
3. Have severe deficits across reading, writing, speaking, and understanding, equally.
4. Receive this diagnosis while in the hospital right after their stroke, but may move to a different aphasia type quickly

**REMINDER: two people with the same diagnosis may present differently

For more information read the article about Global aphasia here: https://theaphasiacenter.com/2020/03/what-is-global-aphasia/
