"I'm Not Good at Talking, and I Don't Have a Big Network — Does That Mean This Isn't for Me?"
A lot of people ask me this before they start.
My answer is always the same:
Yes, this business needs communication skills and a network — but our training doesn't require you to have them beforehand. Because both are things we teach you to build after you start.
—
First, an important distinction: I mean "clear speaking," not "the gift of gab"
"The gift of gab" is often something you're born with.
Some people are just naturally silver-tongued — they can sell ice to a snowman. TV shopping hosts, some politicians. Most of us probably couldn't learn that in a lifetime.
But "clear speaking" is different — that can be trained.
Clear speaking is: talking with substance, in an organized, logical way, so the other person actually understands.
It doesn't require you to dazzle anyone — it requires clarity. And "expressing yourself clearly" — is something you can learn, through method.
So I often say: it's okay if you're not a smooth talker — what we teach isn't "the gift of gab," it's "clear speaking."
—
Now, "network" — it's not what you think
People assume lots of friends guarantees success. It doesn't.
Without the right approach, your network is just your "eat-drink-and-hang-out friends" — nothing to do with your business.
And worse — the wrong approach turns you from someone people like, into someone people dodge when they see you coming. (You've definitely seen someone "burn through their contacts" until everyone's wary of them.)
So what we teach isn't "how to sell to your friends" — it's "how to build good relationships." With the right method, anyone in your life could become a future partner who shares your goals — instead of a relationship you used up.
—
Honestly — if this were just "selling stuff," it wouldn't have come down to us to do, right?
It's precisely because so many people have the wrong mindset, or follow the wrong leader, that they end up "burning through their network." And that's exactly where method proves its worth.
—
So, back to the original question
"I'm not good at talking, I don't have a network — is this for me?"
My answer is — nobody is "born" suited to this business.
Everyone who's built something here changed themselves into someone suited for it. Clear speaking is trained, a network is built — and both happen to be teachable, learnable.
—
📩 If you've ever asked yourself "is this for me?"
If you've hesitated because "I'm not good at talking" or "I don't have many friends" — DM me. (When I started at 24, I stuttered and blushed when I talked too — wrote about that in an earlier post.)
Replies might take a while, but I read every one.
—
One last question for everyone — how long do you think it takes to get the hang of "clear speaking"?
Drop your guess in the comments — I'll share what I've observed in the next post 😊
