Installation of Glass Mosaic (Gresite) for Swimming Pools. Surface Preparation!
The surface must be:
— perfectly level,
— solid and stable,
— dry and clean,
— free from dust, cracks, and voids.
For swimming pools, a cement-based waterproofing system with at least 2 coats is recommended.
Surface Layout
Before installation, the walls and pool floor should be marked to ensure straight lines and even joints.
Adhesive
Only the following adhesives should be used:
— white flexible adhesive class C2TE S1, or
— epoxy adhesive for swimming pools and wet areas.
White adhesive is mandatory for glass mosaic to preserve the true color of the tiles.
Adhesive Application
The adhesive should be applied with a 3–4 mm notched trowel in small sections.
Do not apply an excessively thick layer to prevent adhesive from coming through the mosaic joints.
Mosaic Installation
The mosaic sheets should be installed carefully according to the layout and pressed gently using a rubber float or smooth trowel.
Important:
— maintain the same level between sheets,
— align all joints correctly,
— avoid movement or shifting of the mesh backing.
Cutting
Cutting should be carried out using a special glass tile cutter or a diamond blade suitable for glass.
Grouting
For swimming pools, epoxy grout is recommended because it:
— is resistant to chemicals,
— does not absorb water,
— does not change color.
The grout should be applied with a rubber float after the adhesive has fully cured.
Surface Cleaning
Grout residue should be removed with a soft sponge before the material fully hardens.
Filling the Pool with Water
The pool may only be filled with water after the installation has fully cured, usually 14–21 days after completion of the work.
Recommendations:
— installation temperature: from +5°C to +30°C,
— avoid direct sunlight during installation,
— do not install during rain or high humidity,
— for maximum durability, it is recommended to use the complete system: waterproofing + epoxy adhesive + epoxy grout.
