Free Mind Hive

Free Mind Hive My name is Sarah Tushemereirwe. I have battled with different mental disorders for over 15 years.

Free Mind Hive is a Christian & community-based peer-led non-profit organization that exists to create a society where mental health and trauma are understood, addressed, and healed. I feel I have a responsibility to share my experiences and truths that I have come to know. I can shade more light on mental disorders and overcoming them, who knows, it may save a life or two or more. I would love t

o share my story with the world in form of a book with scientific research. Writing, editing, publishing and distributing a book well is beyond my means, so I am reaching out to you for financial support, or any other support that you can offer. please check out these campaign sites

May is over, but mental health is a daily commitment, not a one-month conversation. 🤍

Together this month, we tackled stigma, addressed depression, anxiety, trauma, and eating disorders, and equipped families with practical tools through our webinars and community spaces.

Remember: Healing is a journey, not a finish line. Keep practicing what you’ve learned. God walks with you, and so does the FreeMind Hive community. 🌱

Eating disorders often run much deeper than food, they are frequently tied to trauma, stress, or the heavy weight of societal pressures. But recovery is absolutely possible. ✨

This week, we’re opening up a conversation about recognizing the signs, understanding the trauma link, and finding paths to healing through community, professional care, and faith-centered practices.

What to look for and how to heal:
⚠️ The Signs: Extreme dieting, bingeing, intense body image anxieties, or emotional withdrawal.
🌱 The Root: Understanding how past trauma, stress, or societal expectations play a role.
🏥 The Recovery: Combining therapy and support groups with spiritual care and daily self-compassion.

If you are in the thick of this battle, please remember: Healing takes time, and every step counts. You are worth the fight. Play your part in fostering healing by sharing this with your friend, loved ones and community.

Self-harm is a sign of deep, unbearable emotional pain, but it doesn't have to be faced alone. ❤️

Understanding, compassion, and early intervention truly save lives. This week, we want to break the silence and focus on prevention, safe support, and the steps to seeking help.

What you need to know:
⚠️ The Signs: Frequent cuts/burns, sudden self-isolation, or expressing deep hopelessness.
🤝 The Support: Lean on professional therapists, crisis helplines, spiritual guidance, and trusted loved ones.
🌱 The Tools: Practice mindfulness, utilize prayer, and build healthy outlets for intense emotions.

Please remember: You are not alone, and your life is incredibly precious. If you need help, please reach out to a professional or a loved one today.

There are moments when the weight of the world feels unbearable. When even simple tasks feel heavy, laughter feels distant, and hope seems out of reach. If you’ve ever felt that way, know this: you are not alone.

Anxiety and panic affect millions of people across the world, and here in Uganda, like much of Africa, many women and men carry these burdens silently, with little understanding or support.

Depression is heavy, but you weren't meant to carry it by yourself. 🌿

If you’ve been feeling overwhelmed, hopeless, or just plain tired lately, please know that your feelings are valid—and hope is available. This week, we’re exploring how we can nurture our mental health through both practical steps and Christ-centered practices.

How to move forward:
âś… Recognize: Acknowledge feelings of persistent sadness or fatigue.
âś… Reflect: Find peace in Scripture, prayer, and small groups.
âś… Act: Reach out for therapy and stay connected to your community.

You are seen, you are loved, and help is just a conversation away.

The Signs:
đź’“ Rapid heartbeat & sweating
🌀 Racing thoughts
🪑 Constant restlessness

The Tools:

Welcome to May, FMH Family. This month, we embrace Mental Health Awareness with a focus on meeting people where they are. Mental wellness is deeply personal — what feels “good” for one person may differ for another. Each journey, each experience, and each goal matters.

Aligned with Mental Health Foundation Week 2026 (May 11–17, UK), our theme of Action encourages practical steps to support mental health, moving beyond awareness to intentional, daily care.

As we close off April, we’re looking back at a month dedicated to Honouring Men and Healing Stories. 🕊️

We’ve spent the last few weeks breaking the silence around trauma, depression, and anxiety. Through webinars and shared experiences, we’ve found that strength isn’t about carrying the weight alone—it’s about having the courage to share the load.

This month, we:
➡ Opened honest dialogues on men’s emotional expression.
➡ Provided faith-rooted tools for coping and hope.
➡ Built a community where vulnerability is seen as bravery.

To every man who showed up, listened, or spoke: Your healing matters. You aren't weak for needing support; you are incredibly brave for choosing it.

Let’s carry this momentum forward.

As a clinical psychologist, I sit across from these families regularly. The helplessness in the room is palpable. What most people do not realise, however, is that a man’s silence is rarely indifference; it is almost always a symptom of the very struggle they cannot name.
