Pearl Psychotherapy Foundation

Pearl Psychotherapy Foundation Dr. Nakalema Faith founded Pearl Psychotherapy Foundation to break the silence around mental health in Uganda. Families often suffered in silence.

Built on compassion and expertise, we offer accessible care, mentorship, and healing—empowering individuals and transforming communities. Every great movement begins with a spark—an experience, a burden, a calling. For Dr. Nakalema Faith (PhD), that spark was the growing silence she observed around mental health in Ugandan homes, schools, and communities. As a seasoned counselling psychologist, Dr

. Nakalema spent years encountering individuals—children, youth, parents, and professionals—who were silently battling emotional pain, trauma, anxiety, depression, and deep-seated behavioral challenges. She realized that while physical health services were somewhat accessible, mental health care was still shrouded in stigma, misinformation, and inaccessibility. Young people had no safe spaces to express their struggles. And those studying to become mental health professionals lacked structured mentorship and meaningful placement opportunities. In response to this urgent need, Pearl Psychotherapy Foundation was born. Founded on compassion, expertise, and a vision for mental wellness for all, Pearl Psychotherapy Foundation was established as a non-profit organization with one clear mission:
To make professional, compassionate, and affordable mental health care accessible to individuals, families, and communities—especially the most vulnerable. Through a blend of services—individual, group, and family counselling, child and adolescent therapy, youth-focused programs, psychological assessment, research, mentorship, and digital tools—the Foundation began to close the gap between those suffering and the care they desperately needed. But the solution didn’t stop at service delivery. Dr. Nakalema envisioned a new generation of well-trained, empowered mental health professionals. Through internship placements and structured mentorship programs, Pearl Psychotherapy Foundation began investing in those who would carry the healing torch forward. Today, Pearl Psychotherapy Foundation is more than just a counselling center—it’s a movement, a safe space, and a beacon of hope for those seeking healing, growth, and purpose. Because like a pearl formed through pressure and time, every soul deserves to emerge whole, resilient, and radiant. "Treasured care for Holistic Well-being"

Recently, Pearl Psychotherapy Foundation held a community outreach in Kisugu, Uganda, under our “My Clean Environment, My Mental Stability” theme.

Where a child plants a tree, he/she is conserving their environment after understanding the importance of protecting nature. The clean environment calms down mental health, creating peace within and around us.

Behavioral change begins early when children are taught that their clean environment is their mental stability.

From tree planting, environmental cleaning, to mental health talks with children and young people, we continue to show that caring for the earth is also caring for our minds.

Thank you to everyone who joined in; together, we are building a healthier environment and a healthier generation.
