Theresa Nolan Doula & Birth Education Supporting women through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum with embodied education, physiological birth preparation, and sacred support.

It takes a village.

One of my favorite parts of each Uncovering Birth cohort is welcoming women from our own community who have dedicated their lives to serving mothers, babies, and families.

This NEXT in-person cohort, beginning August 30th, our classroom will be joined by:

🤍 Two chiropractors who specialize in pregnancy and family care

🤍 A physical therapist specializing in pelvic floor health

🤍 A homebirth midwife

🤍 A therapist with a special focus on perinatal mental health and supporting women through pregnancy and postpartum

Each brings a different lens, different experience, and different expertise.

Because pregnancy, birth, and postpartum aren’t one-dimensional.

The more we learn from one another, the more supported women become. Questions are welcomed. Conversations are encouraged. Different perspectives are valued. Together, we create a space where women can gather information, build relationships, and discover the support that feels right for them.

This is what community looks like.

Women supporting women.
Professionals collaborating instead of competing.
A village coming together to care for mothers.

I can’t wait for these incredible women to share their hearts and wisdom with this Fall cohort. 🤍

Pregnancy changes a woman’s body.

Birth changes her life.

Postpartum changes everything.

It’s more than recovery. It’s a profound season of rebuilding that deserves our attention, our care, and our reverence.

I’d love to hear what resonates with you as you read through these slides. 🤍

There is a moment in almost every pregnancy when something shifts.

You realize birth isn't actually that far away.

And suddenly, the questions get louder.

*Will I know what to do?*

*Can I really trust my body?*

*How do I know what's right for me?*

*What if things don't go according to plan?*

The truth is, confidence isn't something you magically find when labor begins.

It's something you cultivate long before your first contraction.

That's why I teach the **Uncovering Birth Foundations Course.**

This isn't about memorizing stages of labor or creating the "perfect" birth plan.

It's about understanding how your body was designed to birth.

Learning how movement, nutrition, physiology, nervous system regulation, informed choice, and partner support all work together to create the foundation for a connected birth experience.

✨ Registration is now open for my next in-person Aberdeen cohort.

One of my favorite parts of teaching the Uncovering Birth Method is bringing passionate local professionals into the classroom.

Birth doesn’t happen in a vacuum, and neither should birth education.

Throughout our 8 week series, families learn from experts who support women, babies, and growing families every day. In this class, we welcomed Marqelle a chiropractor and Larissa from Medicine Rock Acupuncture & Traditional Chinese Medicine to share their knowledge on pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and family wellness.

I believe childbirth education should do more than prepare you for labor. It should connect you with trusted resources, meaningful relationships, and a community that supports you long after your baby is born.

That is one of the things I love most about the Uncovering Birth Method and why I’m so honored to bring it to Aberdeen.

✨ My next in person cohort begins this September, and registration will be opening soon. I can’t wait to share more with you.

Offering this in Aberdeen, SD.

Most people know about my in person group cohorts, but not everyone learns best in a classroom. Some families want a more personal experience. They want to ask every question, move at their own pace, and learn in the comfort of their own home.

That’s exactly why I offer private 1:1 childbirth education.

Over 8 sessions, you and your partner are guided through the complete Uncovering Birth Method. We don’t just talk about labor. We build a foundation from pregnancy through postpartum with evidence based education, hands on practice, partner preparation, nutrition, movement, informed decision making, newborn procedures, postpartum planning, and so much more.

This isn’t a one day crash course. It’s a complete birth education experience that leaves you feeling informed, prepared, and confident.

I also continue to offer my in person group cohorts, so you can choose the learning environment that feels like the best fit for your family. NEXT cohort will start in September!

“But I can just Google it.”

I hear this all the time.

And honestly… can you?

Can we really find unfiltered, unbiased information online anymore?

Every search engine, every social media platform, every algorithm is designed to show us something. Information is filtered, ranked, marketed, and often created by people or organizations with their own interests.

Birth is no different.

So why take an Uncovering Birth childbirth education class?

Because there is tremendous value in slowing down and learning from a curriculum that has done the heavy lifting for you.

The goal of Uncovering Birth has never been to tell you what to do.

It’s to help you become the expert on your birth.

No fear.
No agenda.

Just thoughtful, evidence-informed education that puts the mother and baby at the center of the conversation.

My next in-person cohort begins this September, and I cannot wait to gather another group of couples together. There is something incredibly powerful about learning alongside other families preparing for birth.

If a group setting isn’t the right fit for you, I also teach private 1:1 childbirth education.

In your home.
Over Zoom.
Always live.
Never pre-recorded.

I’m currently walking alongside three couples privately and have room to welcome just one more.

If you’ve been thinking about childbirth education, I’d love to walk alongside you as you prepare for one of the most transformative experiences of your life. 🤍

"They checked me and found a cervical lip, so they told me to stop pushing."

Think about that for a second.

A woman's body is giving her an overwhelming, instinctive urge to bear down... and she's being told to fight it.

Can you imagine how confusing that would be?

One of the things I love most about studying birth physiology is realizing that birth isn't nearly as linear as we've been taught. The cervix doesn't magically become 10 cm and *then* your body suddenly decides it's time to push. These processes often overlap. Your baby is rotating, descending, and your cervix is continuing to move and change all at the same time. An anterior cervical lip is actually a common part of that process and, according to Rachel Reed, is often only "found" because someone decided to do a vaginal exam.

This is another reason I'm so passionate about helping families understand true informed consent around vaginal exams.

A cervical exam can tell you one very small piece of information in one single moment. It cannot tell you when your baby will be born. It cannot tell you how your labor will unfold. It cannot measure your determination, your hormones, your baby's movements, or the incredible wisdom of your body.

I've seen women walk around at 3 centimeters for days.

I've also seen women go from 6 centimeters to holding their baby in what feels like the blink of an eye.

Birth isn't a checklist.

It's physiology.

It's movement.

It's communication between a mother and her baby.

The more we understand that, the less we feel the need to control every step of the process.

If you're preparing for birth, I'd highly recommend reading Rachel Reed's article. Whether you agree with every point or not, it's a fascinating look at labor physiology and one that encourages us to ask better questions.

An 'early' pushing urge is a normal variation of physiological birth. An anterior cervical lip does not require management and is best left undetected. The complications associated with a cervical lip are caused by identifying it, and managing the situation as though it is a problem.
