This Memorial Day, we pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country and our freedom. 🇺🇸

Today, we also remember the veterans and first responders who continue to battle the hidden wounds of service long after the uniforms come off.

To those struggling — you are not alone. Reaching out is a sign of strength, not weakness. Support is available, and there are people who care.

The Plymouth County CISM Team extends our deepest condolences to the brothers, sisters, family, friends, and department members affected by the recent Line of Duty Death of Robert “BK” Kilduff jr.

A loss like this is felt far beyond one department, it impacts the entire fire service family. We honor the dedication, sacrifice, and commitment made in service to others, and we stand beside all those grieving during this incredibly difficult time.

Please remember that no one has to carry the weight of these tragedies alone. Peer support, brotherhood, and reaching out to one another matter now more than ever.

Rest easy, brother. Your service and sacrifice will never be forgotten.

Robert “BK" Kilduff, Jr. exemplified what it meant to be a union firefighter. BK was passionate about his profession, assigned to Rescue Company 2, and passionate about improving the lives of his fellow brothers and sisters, working as a staff member of the PFFM for the last 15 years.

More than anything else, BK was passionate about being a father. The PFFM sends all of our love and support to both of his children and will stand with Boston Firefighters Local 718 IAFF to ensure they have whatever they need.

🚨 TRAINING OPPORTUNITY 🚨

The Plymouth County CISM Team and Boston Metro CISM Teams will be hosting ICISF GRIN (Group Crisis Intervention) and SPIP (Su***de Prevention, Intervention & Postvention) classes June 22–26, 2026.

These courses are foundational training for anyone interested in becoming involved with a Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) team.

If you are a firefighter, police officer, dispatcher, EMS provider, correctional officer, frontline worker, or veteran interested in peer support and helping others through difficult times, these classes are the first steps to even be considered for many CISM teams.

✅ Learn intervention and crisis response skills
✅ Network with experienced peer team members

🚑 EMS WEEK 2026 🚑

This week, the Plymouth County CISM Team would like to recognize and thank all EMS professionals for the incredible work they do every single day. From the first 911 call to patient care in some of life’s most difficult moments, EMS providers stand ready 24/7 to serve their communities with compassion, skill, and dedication.

Whether you are an EMT, Paramedic, Dispatcher, Nurse, Firefighter/Paramedic, or part of the support system behind the scenes — your work matters, and your sacrifices do not go unnoticed.

EMS is more than a career. It is long hours, missed holidays, difficult calls, emotional stress, and constantly putting others before yourself. During EMS Week, we also want to remind every provider that it is okay to ask for help. Mental health and wellness matter just as much as physical safety.

The Plymouth County CISM Team remains committed to “Helping Those Who Serve” by providing confidential peer support and critical incident stress management services to first responders, frontline workers, and their families throughout our region and beyond.

Teaching Moment from the Plymouth County CISM Team

Recently, our team received a request for assistance that was outside of our immediate area of coverage. As always, confidentiality remains 100% protected, and no identifying information will ever be shared. However, this situation serves as an important reminder and teaching moment.

No matter where you live or work within the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, help is available.

One of the greatest strengths of the Massachusetts State Peer Support Network is exactly that — the network itself. When someone reaches out, it is never about jurisdiction, territory, or district lines. What matters is making sure that person gets connected to the help and support they need, when they need it most.

In this instance, we coordinated with the appropriate area directors and ensured the member was connected with local support resources. That is how this system is designed to work — responders helping responders, together.

You are never alone.
Help is always available.
And the network is stronger when we work together.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month.

As first responders, dispatchers, healthcare workers, veterans, and family members, we spend so much of our lives taking care of others that we often forget to check on ourselves. The stress, trauma, and weight we carry are real; and no one should have to carry it alone!

Reaching out for help is not weakness. It is strength. Whether you are struggling personally, worried about a coworker, or simply need someone to listen, support is available.

The Plymouth County CISM Team is here to provide confidential peer support, guidance, and resources for those who serve our communities every day. No call goes unanswered.
