Following directions involves multiple skills working together:

• Attention
• Language comprehension
• Memory
• Processing information
• Task completion

When an individual struggles with following directions, there may be several underlying skills contributing to the challenge.

Taking a moment to understand what skill may be causing the difficulty can help us respond with patience and provide the right support.
