Today is an extremely emotional day for us as the That’s My Nurse family lost someone very special to us. 💔
Mr. John had been part of our TMN family for more than four years, almost from the very beginning of our journey. Over those years, he became so much more than a client. He became someone we loved.
We walked through a lot together. There were emergency room visits, doctors’ appointments, hospital stays, transitions between facilities, difficult days, victories, frustrations, and countless moments spent advocating to make sure his voice was heard and his needs were met.
And somewhere along the way, a very special bond formed.
Mr. John was a proud Navy veteran who served aboard submarines. He loved watching the Weather Channel and could always tell you what was happening with the weather.
And if I (Liz) was driving him to an appointment, I could count on receiving a very thorough critique of my driving skills. 😂 Those car rides and conversations are memories I will forever treasure.
Caring for people in this way means that sometimes they become woven into the story of your life and your work. Mr. John is woven into ours.
He was part of That’s My Nurse while we were still becoming the company we are today. In many ways, clients like Mr. John helped teach us what it truly means to stand beside someone through the complicated, frustrating, vulnerable parts of healthcare. To advocate. To show up. To listen. To stay.
Today, our hearts are heavy, but we are incredibly grateful that we had the privilege of knowing him, serving him, advocating for him, laughing with him, and being part of his journey.
Rest peacefully, Mr. John. ⚓
Fair winds and following seas.
