Stephanie Dodier I’m a Nutritionist but I barely talk about nutrition. I like to say I have a PhD in diet culture. Hi! See more:https://www.stephaniedodier.com/

Twenty five years of dieting taught me the problem was never what I was eating. My work is focused on behavioural science, human psychology and body image. I’m Stephanie Dodier

I am a non-diet nutritionist, educator, and feminist business leader challenging everything we’ve been taught about food, health, and coaching. I help health professionals & coaches confidently coach nutrition and health without co-opting diet culture.

Positive thinking was a band-aid not a solution to body dissatisfaction…

So when perimenopause and ageing signs started showing up the low grade dissatisfaction with your body size, turn right back into the old stories of shame.

Positive thinking is like treating a splinter injury with antibiotic cream and a bandaid without remove the actual splinter.

Until you remove the actual splinter you’ll have to keep managing the symptoms with cream and bandaid.

In some cases the infection may even spread or even become systemic.

I often see this in my client who were tolerating low grade dissatisfaction towards the size of their body and when they start ageing it turn into self-doubt and shame.

👉 My body acceptance challenge will teach you though work and help get the splinter out so you can feel confidence about your body’s look for the rest of your life.

4 weeks starting November 13.

I help women be bothered differently….

Most women tell me they want to be unbothered with their body. To stop thinking about it.

I don’t coach women toward that. Not thinking about your body won’t help you care for it, and caring for it is what lets you live the next 30 years the way you want.

Being bothered differently means respect instead of criticism.

👉 Join me inside the next round of the Body Acceptance Challenge.

You learn how to be bile bothered about your body differently 😉.

Between 2016 -2020 I gained a significant amount of weight as I undieted my life and career, yet the pain was getting less 🙃.

As I built a new relationship with my body and cultivated respect through body neutrality for it’s size I also I began accepting its other physical circumstance.

I leaned into the pain and became its witness. I build a relationship with it. When pain spasms would come, I would hold them with compassion and safety using my breath.

And gradually the chronic pain spasms became less frequent and severe.

Today the pain levels are 1or 2 on a scale. I live a very active life being nearly as strong as I was in my early 30s.

And yet I’m at my highest weight and oldest of age at 51.

What helped my body the most has never been weight loss but instead, the respect and allyship I gave my body.

I decided to make this next chapter of my life one where my body was my ally, not my enemy.

I decide to believe in my possibilities more than my limitations.

With love,

Stephanie

PS: I have the best medical team these days. I handpicked them so they work with my body not against it. 💕

One of the most important body acceptance behavior…

🎥: Je m’appelle Agnete
📷:

Body acceptance is both a cognitive & somatic process.

You need to restructure how you think about your body and yourself.

And you need to teach your nervous system that seeing your body’s reflection is now safe.

In my experience over the last 10 years the reason why women still find themselves experiencing low graded anxiety with their body and stressing about their even after stopping dieting is because both aspect of body acceptance have not been integrated.

👉The next cohort of the Body Acceptance Challenge starts Nov 5.

Not every thought about your body need a response…

In fact most of thought you have about your body do not need action, reaction or response.

These string of words need to be acknowledge and discarded with compassion.

I’ll be teaching tought work for body acceptance to a new group starting November 13.

Comment CONFIDENT and I’ll DM you the link for the waitlist.

Your child was born trusting their body. Somewhere between the high chair and kindergarten, the adults around them start teaching them not to.

I don’t have kids. So when clients ask about support with topics related to kids and the parenting, I bring in someone who lived experience.

On the Beyond The Food podcast this week I invited
Kerry Miller, RD | Violet Learns a registered dietitian and author Violet Learns and a mom of three girls to talk about kids and body image.

👉👉Comment PODCAST and the bot will DM you the link to listen.

In this episode you’ll learn:
🎤What interoception is and why it is the foundation of body trust
🎤Why picky eating can take 20 to 30 exposures to shift, and how to stay pressure-free
🎤What to say when your child asks “Do I look pretty?”
🎤How to respond when another kid calls your child fat
🎤How to talk to your kids about GLP-1s, including if you take one

👉👉Comment PODCAST and the bot will DM you the link to listen.

Hope this helps you with the little one in your life

The word that can sump up September was shedding….

The highlight of my shedding was many old structures, old podcast, long hair and a wisdom tooth.

Making space for new. And a lot came through already can’t wait to see you hat October delivers 💜

In no order

1. Mindblowing roadtrip sea side in Gaspésie
2. Cut off about 5 inches of hair in the first week of September and went back again yesterday 😮
3. Lots of hiking and fall foliage
4. The wisdom tooth extraction I had been post pinning for about 10 years happened 🤷‍♀️
5. Lottsss of icing
6. And ice cream
7. And camp for the first in the fall cold weather.

Let’s do this October things 😁
