The inpatient center & follow-up program has been operating without pause and we officially admitted our — ONE HUNDREDTH — patient of the year (actually, we're up to 103 as of today!)

As October is coming to a close, we are preparing our two year-end campaigns:
✨ RENT
✨ $30k in 30 Days

These year-end campaigns are vital to our operations, ensuring the doors stay open into the new year, so stay tuned on all the details & prayerfully consider how you can link arms with us in the coming two months 💛

happy Friday! 🎉

Friday's are the busiest day of the week for Middle Ground as we host our follow-up program on Friday's.

What does a follow-up appointment consist of?
💙 medical exam by doctor & weight check to ensure lasting recovery
💛 a hot meal & drink prepared by MG staff
💚 administration of medication if needed & distribution of food packs for families to take home

The follow-up program builds lasting relationships with families, builds community, and is done with dignity & love.

So far this year, MG has had 1,554 appointments and as of TODAY, we've admitted 103 children for inpatient care.

NONE of this is possible without YOU — thank you for your continued support and consider a one-time donation in honor of all the children being seen in follow-up today ❤

EVANS 💙🎉

Admitted in March of this year, he was 2.5 years old and weighed 19 pounds 7 ounces. He was diagnosed with Marasmus malnutrition and spent 29 days inpatient. In those 29 days, his little body healed and he gained over SIX pounds!!

Evans then entered our follow-up program and has been seen six times since May. These follow-up appointments are vital for the children's long-term recovery. When Evans came for his second and third visit, he had lost weight and was showing signs of decline, but intervention at those appointments got him back on track. Just last week, he was seen again (bottom right photo is him at the appointment showing off his adorable smile!) and is reported to be in great health now — and for that we are so thankful!

Your continued support of Middle Ground's programs not only allows us to serve the children facing severe malnutrition on the frontlines, but it also allows us the ability to serve the children in a long-term sustainable way, ensuring lasting recovery. Evans is proof that your generosity is saving + sustaining life — praise be!

MORENSKY ✨

admitted at 14-months-old, he was diagnosed with chronic malnutrition

— chronic malnutrition causes long-term developmental damage & is largely irreversible; MG has now treated SIX children for chronic malnutrition in 2026 —

Morensky spent 58 days inpatient, making one of the most incredible transformations. Most notably, was the healing on his scalp, which had open wounds from an infection. While inpatient, he consumed 50,000+ mL of F-75 & F-100 and 73 packets of mamba. He gained an astonishing 5 pounds, too.

Morensky could have easily been another child lost to malnutrition, but now has a full future ahead of him thanks to the care he received at MG. Your support makes this all possible — THANK YOU for standing on MIDDLE GROUND with us & fighting for children like Moresnky

*we anticipate admitting out 100th child in October, join the COALITION today to ensure all children who come to our gates needing care can be treated*

Last week, the World Food Programme, UNICEF, and FAO released a sobering report: 253,725 children under the age of five in Haiti are projected to suffer from acute malnutrition between June 2026 and May 2027. Nearly 94,000 are projected to experience severe acute malnutrition.

And while these numbers are staggering, they represent more than a national crisis. They represent children, families, and communities whose lives are being upended by ongoing violence, displacement, and hunger.

It's been four weeks since the devastating attacks in Kenscoff. The headlines may have held our attention for a day or two, but the ripple effects continue long after the news cycle moves on.

At Middle Ground, we've welcomed 11 children for inpatient malnutrition treatment over the past four weeks.

Their stories are stark reminders of why this work cannot stop when the headlines fade.

The need is ongoing, but so is our commitment.

Help us continue providing life-saving care to Haiti's most vulnerable children by joining THE COALITION with a monthly gift.

four weeks ago horrific attacks took place in the community of Kenscoff —

• a confirmed 47 individuals lost their lives, but we believe that number is higher
• more than 50 individuals were kidnapped, most have yet to be released
• staff reported personally knowing someone still kidnapped along with two of his children
• we've admitted ELEVEN children already this month, three were directly impacted by the attacks

the attacks make the headlines for a day or two, but we feel the ripple effects endlessly.

friend, if you're reading this, we ask you to pray for continued strength in this battle, but we also ask you to ACT on behalf of Middle Ground...whether it's a one-time donation, joining the Coalition, sharing our work with a friend...

Your act of advocacy is not lost on us 🖤 we need you all now more than ever.

admission when it matters most — meet KATINA 💕

When 18-month-old Katina was admitted in early August, she weighed just 18 pounds, 10 ounces and was diagnosed with moderate malnutrition.

Moderate malnutrition may not look as alarming as severe malnutrition, but it is still serious and treating it early can make all the difference. Early intervention can help prevent malnutrition from progressing to its most dangerous forms, while giving a child’s growing body the nourishment it needs to develop.

Katina spent 36 days receiving inpatient care and during her stay, she consumed 43 packets of mamba and gained over three pounds!

When she was discharged, Katina weighed 22 pounds, 4 ounces.

More than a number on a scale, that weight gain represents something much bigger: a growing little girl who has been given the nourishment and care she needs during such an important season of development.

Our core belief is that every child is worth fighting for.
We are grateful to everyone who makes this care possible. Because of you, children like Katina have the opportunity not only to recover, but to grow & go home to their families recovered.

— ten days ago one of the most critical cases we have seen at MG was admitted, yesterday our staff spent hours bandaging and caring for this sweet child as her skin continues to "fall and peel" away from the lack of protein and edema, today we pray & wait to see if she will continue to recover...

— Lord, be with our staff as they serve & treat these precious children...

— And Lord, keep our hearts tender, our eyes attentive, and our lives available...

— your support of MG keeps our doors open, resources on the shelves, and staff paid; your support saves lives in real time

We are brokenhearted yet again by the violence that continues.

More than 60% of the families we serve through our programs are from the Kenscoff area, so these attacks hold so much for us as an organization.

Join us in praying for all the effected. Join us in praying especially for our staff as they continue to navigate the uncertainty of the streets, but serve the children inpatient relentlessly. Join us in praying for the nation of Haiti and for peace to soon reign.
