LA 498 (Airbase Road) in Alexandria, LA, has a planned full closure at the Union Pacific Railroad crossing on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, from 7 AM to 6 PM, for railroad tie replacement; a detour route via LA 1 and I-49 will be marked, and emergency services will be notified, according to La DOTD.
Details of the Closure:
Location: LA 498 (Airbase Road) at the Union Pacific Railroad crossing (Mile Post 0.140) in Alexandria, Rapides Parish.
Date & Time: Tuesday, January 13, 2026, from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
Reason: Union Pacific Railroad is replacing cross ties at the crossing.
Impact: The road will be completely closed to all traffic.
Detour Route:
North on LA 498, then west to LA 1, north to Rapides Station Road (north), then south on I-49 back to LA 498.
