Of Urth

Of Urth Welcome to Of Urth — a space for slow, sacred, embodied healing. Of Urth is a place of healing for the soul, a remembering of who you are.

I am a Massage Therapist offering restorative touch, ceremonial herbal medicine, somatic care, and energy work to support deep regulation, presence, and return to self. My goal is to create a space where you feel safe to explore your inner world. The products I create facilitate and support the vitalist wisdom.

If you tell me you’re constipated, I still don’t know what herb I would suggest.

That’s because 'constipation' tells me what is happening, but not much about -why- it may be happening.

Are the stools dry, hard, and difficult to pass?

Is digestion slow and heavy, with bloating and very little urge to go?

Do you feel like you need to go, but everything tightens up and nothing moves?

Did it start after travel, stress, a change in diet, medication, dehydration, or something else?

Those details matter.

Someone who is very dry may need a completely different approach than someone whose digestion feels cold and sluggish. And someone whose gut seems to clamp down when they’re stressed may need something different again.

This is one of the reasons I don’t love the internet version of herbalism that says:

Constipation? Take this herb.

Herbs have their own actions and energetics, and people have their own patterns. A plant can be a great choice for one person and make absolutely no sense for another person with the exact same complaint.

That’s a big part of what happens during an herbal consultation. I’m not just asking what symptom you have. I’m trying to understand how it shows up in your body.

One of the hardest things about explaining what I do is that I don’t fit neatly into one box.

I work with the body through massage, touch therapy, somatic practices, and energy work.

I work with plants through herbal consultations, herbal medicine, and formulation.

I work with the senses through aromatherapy.

And I spend a lot of time looking at the everyday pieces that shape how someone feels—food, digestion, sleep, stress, movement, and the patterns that keep showing up in the body.

None of those things feel separate to me.

Someone may come in because their shoulders are constantly tight, but that tension may also be connected to how they’re breathing, how much stress they’re carrying, how well they’re sleeping, or how supported they feel in their day-to-day life.

Someone may come in for an herbal consultation because of digestion or low energy, and the conversation may also lead us into food, nervous-system patterns, or the way stress is showing up physically.

That’s the kind of work I’m interested in.

Not treating one isolated complaint and ignoring the rest of the person, but looking at what may be influencing it from several directions and deciding what kind of support actually makes sense.

Sometimes that’s hands-on work.

Sometimes it’s herbs.

Sometimes it’s food or a daily practice.

Sometimes it’s a combination.

That’s really what Of Urth has grown into for me: a place where all the things I’ve spent years studying can finally work together.

8/8 gets talked about as the Lion’s Gate—a time associated with intention, change, and stepping into something new.

I’m less interested in the idea that one particular day magically changes everything and more interested in what dates like this can invite us to notice.

What are you still carrying simply because you’ve gotten used to carrying it?

A habit. A responsibility. An expectation. A way of speaking to yourself. Something you keep saying yes to when a part of you has been saying no for a long time.

We tend to think making a change means we need to know exactly what comes next.

Sometimes it starts much smaller than that.

We notice.

We get curious about why something doesn’t feel right anymore.

And maybe we give ourselves enough room to find out what would feel different.

That’s a question I’m sitting with today:

What am I ready to make a little more room for?

I’ve been quietly planning a series of gatherings at Land of Light in Paw Paw for this fall and winter, and the dates are now on the calendar.

Herbal Tea Circle

These will be small, relaxed gatherings centered around tasting and learning about herbs. We’ll talk about their traditional uses, energetics, preparation, folklore, and how they may fit into everyday life.

September 5 | 1–3 pm
October 3 | 1–3 pm
November 7 | 1–3 pm
December 6 | 4–6 pm

I’ll also be offering a second series called:

Beneath the Surface

These gatherings will be less about learning information and more about experiencing what comes up when we slow down long enough to notice ourselves. Each one will be built around a different theme and may include breathwork, guided reflection, journaling, body awareness, and practices inspired by books or ideas I’ve found meaningful.

September 26 | 1–3 pm
October 23 | 6–8 pm
November 1 | 2–4 pm
December 19 | 1–3 pm

More details about the individual themes and registration will be shared soon.

Both series will be held at Land of Light in Paw Paw.

One of the things I've learned is that people don't always come in because they're in physical pain.

Sometimes they come because something just doesn't feel right.

They don't feel like themselves.

They're carrying stress in ways they can't quite explain.

They've tried pushing through it. Often what they desire is for someone to be present with them. To help them be present with themselves.

Whether I'm offering bodywork, energy medicine, or an herbal consultation, I don't believe in one-size-fits-all care.

Every person arrives with a different story.

I'm not going to fit you into a box. I'm here to listen, to observe, to ask questions, and to meet you where you are.

I think it's important to make a person feel like they are nutured and cared for. Especially if you're one who does the nurturing and caring for others. You deserve to have the same love and attention.

There's one jar of my Facial Mineral Sun Balm left before I pause making it for the season.

This has been one of my favorite products to formulate because I wanted something that felt nourishing on the skin rather than heavy or greasy. I also wanted it to fit naturally into a daily skincare routine instead of feeling like an extra step.

It doesn't have to be reserved just for sunny days. It also doubles as a daily facial moisturizer, a barrier balm for windy or dry conditions, an after-sun skin conditioner, and a great companion for hiking to help protect exposed areas like the nose, ears, and tops of the hands.

As summer begins to wind down, this will be the last jar available for a while.

If you've been meaning to try it, now would be a good time.

Feel free to send me a message if you'd like me to set it aside for you.

Someone recently reached out to ask if I could make one of my ritual sprays again.

I don't actively keep these in my shop anymore, but if I still have the ingredients on hand, I'm always happy to accommodate requests like this.

Making this bottle again reminded me of the collection I used to offer:
• Lavender + White Sage
• Lavender + Rosemary + White Sage
• Palo Santo + White Sage
• Sweetgrass + White Sage

Sometimes products have a season. Sometimes they quietly find their way back.

If you've ever purchased something from Of Urth that you don't see anymore, feel free to ask. If I have the ingredients available, there's a good chance I can still make it for you.

**When was the last time someone took care of you?**

Not because you couldn't do it yourself.

Not because you had reached your breaking point.

Simply because you deserved to be cared for.

So many of us are used to being the ones who hold everything together.

We care for our families.

Our friends.

Our clients.

Our communities.

But receiving care can feel surprisingly unfamiliar.

There's a quiet strength in allowing yourself to receive care. It doesn't diminish what you give to others—it helps sustain it. It creates the space to return to our lives with a little more presence, clarity, and capacity.

Whether that looks like bodywork, Reiki, sharing a cup of herbal tea, or simply giving yourself permission to pause, caring for yourself isn't something you have to earn.

It's something you're worthy of.

What helps you feel genuinely cared for? 🌿

One of the things I hope people experience when they spend time with me is this...

A chance to exhale.

Not because life suddenly becomes easier.

But because, for a little while, they don't have to carry everything alone.

Whether someone comes for bodywork, Reiki, or an herbal consultation, my intention is always the same:

To create a space where they feel seen.

Where they don't have to perform.

Where they don't have to have all the answers.

Just a place to pause.

To breathe.

To reconnect.

I think we underestimate how healing it can be to simply feel safe enough to let our guard down.

Sometimes that's where the most meaningful shifts begin. 🌿

**When was the last time you felt completely at ease in your own body?**

Not on vacation.

Not for five minutes after a hot shower.

I mean truly at ease.

It's a question I find myself thinking about often.

Many of us have become so accustomed to rushing, bracing, and carrying tension that it begins to feel like our normal.

That's one of the reasons I'm drawn to bodywork, energy, herbalism, and somatic practices.

Each offers a different doorway back to ourselves.

Not by forcing the body to change, but by creating the conditions where it can finally exhale.

My hope is never to simply provide an hour of relaxation.

It's to help people reconnect with a version of themselves that feels more present, more grounded, and more at home in their own body.

Because sometimes the greatest gift isn't escaping how you feel.

It's remembering what it feels like to be yourself again. 🌿
