It was a genuine privilege to welcome one of the true pioneers of the psychedelic movement to Conversations with Dr. Wes.

For more than 60 years, Dr. James Fadiman has been one of the most influential figures in psychedelic research and the scientific exploration of human consciousness.

Long before psychedelics re-entered the mainstream, Dr. Fadiman was asking thoughtful questions about their potential—not with hype or ideology, but with scientific curiosity, humility, and deep respect for the human experience. His work has helped shape the modern conversation around psychedelic-assisted healing and has influenced generations of researchers, therapists, physicians, and explorers around the world.

His books, The Psychedelic Explorer’s Guide and his newest release, Microdosing for Health, Healing, and Enhanced Performance, have become foundational resources for anyone seeking a responsible, evidence-informed understanding of these medicines.

Sitting down with someone whose work has helped define an entire field was an incredible honor.

In this episode we explore:

🌿 The origins and evolution of modern microdosing
🧠 The current science and emerging research
🍄 Psychedelics, mental health, and human flourishing
✨ Consciousness, curiosity, and lifelong learning
❤️ Why humility may be one of the most important qualities in both science and healing

Whether you’ve followed Dr. Fadiman’s work for decades or are just beginning to explore this field, I think you’ll walk away with a deeper appreciation for both the science and the humanity behind it.

Thank you, Dr. Fadiman, for your lifetime of pioneering research, your intellectual generosity, and your unwavering commitment to helping the world better understand consciousness and healing.

Every once in a while, you meet someone whose work doesn’t just give you new ideas—it changes how you see.

That has been my experience with Bayo Akomolafe.

I first heard Bayo’s name in 2023 while attending a Warm Data training in London. Throughout the week, people kept telling me, “You have to read Bayo.” So when I got home, I picked up These Wilds Beyond Our Fences, and later Selah.

Those books became companions.

They challenged many of the assumptions I’d inherited about psychology, healing, identity, progress, and what it means to truly transform.

It was an incredible honor to finally welcome Bayo onto Conversations with Dr. Wes.

Our conversation moves through the philosophy of Gilles Deleuze and Félix Guattari, rhizomes, decolonizing psychology, paramorphology, consciousness, emergence, and why our culture’s obsession with certainty and solving problems may actually keep us from seeing what life is inviting.

One idea from Bayo has stayed with me ever since we finished recording:

“Don’t keep looking for the door. Learn to notice the cracks.”

Maybe the future doesn’t emerge from bigger solutions.

Maybe it emerges through deeper perception.

As someone whose own work has been deeply influenced by humanistic psychology, systems thinking, existential philosophy, and the study of consciousness, this conversation felt like coming home to many of the questions I’ve been living with for years. There were moments where I completely forgot I was hosting a podcast and simply became a student again.

I’m deeply grateful to Bayo for his generosity, wisdom, and friendship. I genuinely believe he’s one of the most original philosophical voices of our time, and I hope this conversation opens something meaningful for you as it has for me.

Nora Bateson speaks on how we need intergenerational connection in the present to walk into the fire of our future 🙏🤍🙌❤️

Nora’s new book Belly is an invitation to notice how we nourish one another across generations—and how every act of care ripples through an interconnected world.

We inherit far more than recipes. We inherit ways of relating, remembering, loving, and belonging. Belly is a beautiful invitation to notice the living ecology of nourishment.

Beginning Wednesday, June 17th, I will be offering a weekly online Parent Circle from 12:00–1:30 PM ET.

Inspired by Dr. Shefali Conscious Parenting, Eckhart Tolle, and A Course in Miracles, this group is rooted in a simple idea: the greatest gift we can offer our children is our own presence.

Together we will explore nervous system regulation, conscious awareness, emotional resilience, and the inner work that helps us move from fear toward love, from reactivity toward presence, and from control toward trust.

This is not a parenting class. It is a supportive community where parents can slow down, reflect, connect, and grow alongside others walking a similar path.

As our children navigate their journey, we learn how to remain grounded, compassionate, and present for ours.

Wednesdays | 12:00–1:30 PM ET | Google Meet | $75 per session

I recently joined Brenda Zane on Hopestream, https://hopestreamcommunity.org/ a podcast for parents navigating the challenges of substance misuse and mental health with their children.

We had a meaningful conversation about the unexpected ways your child's pain can invite your own growth and reflection, how true support goes beyond feeling for your child and into being with them, and why your child doesn't need you to solve their struggle, but to stay grounded and present through it 🙏

Just released a new episode of Conversations with Dr. Wes with Dr. Stacey Simmons — psychotherapist, researcher, certified psychedelic therapist, and author of Mushroom Pharmacy.

This ended up becoming one of the deeper conversations I’ve had yet on the podcast.

We explored psychedelics, trauma healing, neuroscience, spirituality, archetypes, consciousness, indigenous traditions, addiction, integration, and the evolving future of mental health and psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy.

What I appreciated most was the balance between science, ethics, and the mystery of human experience.

Would love to hear what resonates with people.
