Excellent Mile Winners for 2026–
Overall Male winner was Abdi Saidgurhan, in a time of 4:26.4.
Overall Female was Ava Fischbacher, running 6:04.5.

The winners of the Masters wave were John Johnson in 5:41.7 and Amy Mendoza, with a time of 6:42.3.

I apologize for not catching up with all of the winners, to get their pic.

There was a new age group record for the 10-13 y.o. Males, where Tripp Huddleston finished in a speedy 5:15.0!

Also, if anyone lost a mauve (?) colored coffee mug, I hung onto it and will get it to you. Message me, if you forgot your mug.

Paul and I say “thanks” to everyone that joined us this past Saturday.
A huge thank you goes out to all of our sponsors, athletes and volunteers that came out.

Volunteers and sponsors are what keep these events going.
Our race volunteers were Teresa Walker, Dennis Burnham, Rich Burns and Anne Jones-Thomas. Thanks to all of you, for volunteering your Saturday morning time.

Hi everyone.
There is still a little time for you to enter Paul and Mike’s Excellent Mile for 2026.
All of the proceeds go to benefit the Ronald McDonald House of Amarillo.

We are having 3 separate heats of this race on Saturday.
-The Master’s race is at 8AM. That is for runners age 40 and over.

-The Open race, for runners age 14-39, is at 8:30. There are usually a lot of really fast runners in this heat!

-The younger kids 13 and under, plus the walkers start at 9AM.

Then we’ll have breakfast burritos, drinks and music. Also, door prizes and awards for the winners.

Come join us!
You should have a fun time. You might also run a good time, too!

Happy Tuesday everybody,

Hope you had a great 4th of July weekend. Happy 250th to America!

It’s race week! Our Excellent Mile takes place this Saturday, 7/11/27.

There is still time to register.
You can enter online at RaceRoster.com, until Thursday evening—7/9/27.
You can enter in person at packet pick up at Get Fit on Georgia on Friday 7/10/27 from 4:30–5:30.

Here’s a map of Thompson Park.
Meeting point on Saturday will be covered gazebo at picnic area #17. That’s indicated by the * on this map. It is at the 1/2 mile point of the race.
The map also shows the starting and finishing points for the race.

In addition to a fun dri-fit tank top, we’re giving out soft sided coolers to all the participants this year. Also, we have several fun door prizes to be given away.

We’re having breakfast burritos from Teddy Jacks, coffee from Roasters, delicious refreshments from M&R and music from Cameron James Smith!

Well, I have some good news and I have some bad news.
The good news is stars and stripes design apparel is in high demand this year – as it should be.
The bad news is that we’ve had to modify the type of shirt we will provide at our race.
We will have dry fit tank tops, rather than cotton T-shirts.
Here’s a preview of our design.

Things sure have come along way—
Since we started this race over 3 decades ago.
One of the biggest changes is how entries are done.

We used to have to put a PAPER entry blank inside the PAPER version of the monthly LSRC newsletter.

-fill out the entry
-write a check
-fill out an envelope
-find a stamp
-mail the envelope
-wait for snail mail delivery

I must admit that the online entry process is much quicker, with a faster response.
However, I’m happy with any method you want to use to enter our race.
Just enter. Come join us! 

You can find our current entries on RaceRoster.com (online) and LoneStarRunnersClub.net (hardcopy).

You can also enter in person at packet pick up, at Get Fit on Georgia, 7/10/26, from 4:30–5:30 p.m.

Over the past several years, we’ve been fortunate to have some very talented local singers provide entertainment for our runners.

That continues this year, as Cameron James Smith is going to play for us at this year‘s Excellent Mile.
