💡 What is gaslighting?
Gaslighting is a manipulation tactic used to make victims question their memory, perception, and sanity.

Examples include:
⚠️ “You’re overreacting, that never happened.”
⚠️ “You’re too sensitive, it’s all in your head.”
⚠️ “If you loved me, you’d remember it differently.”

Gaslighting is a key element of coercive control—and recognizing it is the first step to breaking free.

Arizona Just Took a Major Step Forward.

For too long, domestic violence has been misunderstood as only physical abuse. But survivors know the truth: some of the deepest wounds are invisible.

Arizona’s new law now recognizes coercive control as a form of domestic violence in family court. This means patterns of intimidation, isolation, financial abuse, manipulation, threats, surveillance, and psychological domination can now be considered when decisions about children and parenting time are made.

This is more than a legal change it’s a shift in understanding.

At Stronger Roots, we have been actively working with legislators and advocates to help bring similar protections to Ohio. We believe survivors deserve laws that recognize the full pattern of abuse not just physical violence.

Colorado has taken action. Arizona has now joined the movement. Could Ohio be next?

We certainly hope so.

You can help make a difference. We have advocacy letters available on our website that you can send to your legislators, encouraging them to recognize coercive control in Ohio law. Your voice matters, and together we can push for meaningful change that better protects survivors and children.

The conversation is changing. The laws are beginning to change. And Stronger Roots is committed to helping lead that change.

Visit www.strongerroots.org to download advocacy letters and learn how you can help.

Together, we can ensure that coercive control is recognized for what it truly is: abuse.

If only……. And their mothers, their fathers, their siblings….. looking the other way, making excuse, not believing, keep the family business in the family. That just gets victims…… you know. You’ve heard the news stories. It’s real. It happens all the time.

The real question is……. What are you going to do to change it?
