I have a Master's Degree in Clinical Social Work (MSW) as well as a Master's in Education with a concentration in Special Education (M.Ed.). I hold Teacher Certifications and Licensure in; School Social Work K-12, Elementary Education K-6, and Moderate Disabilities K-12. I have held many positions as a professional in education and mental health, in roles such as school social worker, behavior specialist, residential therapist, and classroom teacher. I have worked in public schools, child welfare, Juvenile detention, early education, and clinical settings. My current and most precious role is that of mother of two amazing boys and homeschool educator to them both. In these professional capacities, as well as in raising and educating our beautifully neurodiverse family, I have created educational approaches and curriculum that embrace a multitude of different learning styles. Through these personal and professional experiences, I have come to appreciate how learning & development are intertwined with mental health, physical health, and neurology. As a result, I have developed methods and materials that aim to support the whole person. Who I serve...

My heart is so full as I share this exciting news with all of you!! ...

Everybody's Academics and our family have officially closed on a new home in the Historic Village of Amherst, New Hampshire! ❤️

The property features a beautiful barn with nearly 4,000 square feet of finished space where we will house our classroom, office, and collaborative recreation hall. Situated on over four acres, it also includes open fields, beautiful Beaver Brook, and room to grow with future outdoor learning spaces and nature based experiences, all within walking distance of the library, parks, local shops, and community events in the heart of Amherst.

It is literally a dream come true, a dream that has been nearly 20 years in the making. The opportunity came along when we least expected it. After years of searching and hoping, we had finally stopped looking. Then, out of nowhere, this property found us and I am so in love with it! From that moment, everything seemed to fall into place, and we're incredibly grateful for the new adventures it will provide! (Expect some very sappy posts to follow with more details and thank yous to those who made this possible!)

📦 On that note... We would like to invite our current and former Everybody's Academics students to our Packing Party this Saturday, Aug. 1, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM @ our Chelmsford Classroom! Come lend a hand, enjoy some pizza, catch up with friends, earn volunteer hours if you need them, and help us take the first steps toward this exciting new chapter as we say goodbye to our Chelmsford home. I want our students to know this place belongs to them, too, right from the very beginning! I have to admit, the extra helping hands will be very much appreciated as well! Email to confirm if you can make it, and include your pizza topping preference. 😊

From the bottom of my heart, thank you to my family, friends, students, EBA families, colleagues, and everyone who has supported and believed in this work over the years. This milestone wouldn't have been possible without your encouragement, trust, and support. I'm so grateful, and I can't wait to see what we build together. 💙 *Some pics of the property and some creative possibilities.

We're officially empty nesters... our robin babies have flown the nest! 🐦❤️ Meet Daisy, Peep, Peanut, and Poe, lovingly named by our students. We've all delighted in and learned so much from this little family and feel honored to have had them with us!

Watching these little ones grow, gain confidence, and finally take flight couldn't have come at a more fitting time. Just like our robins, so many of our incredible students have spread their wings for the summer after a year filled with hard work, perseverance, and growth!! I couldn't be more proud of each of you!!

*"Come to the edge," he said.*
*"We can't. We're afraid," they responded.*
*"Come to the edge," he said.*
*They came.*
*He pushed them...*
*And they flew.*

- Christopher Logue, Apollinaire

May this summer bring each of you new adventures, new discoveries, and the confidence to soar toward your dreams. Keep bravely exploring and never stop believing in what you're capable of!

I'll be here, cheering you on from the nest, and can't wait to welcome you back this fall.

** Be sure to check your email next week for an important EBA update and follow along as our EBA family begins our own exciting new adventure. So thrilled to share the news with you soon!!! ❤️

Have a wonderful summer! 🌿📚💙

Summer Reading starts TODAY! ☀️📖 Earn free books, prizes, and raffle tickets by logging your reading online at nashualibrary.beanstack.org or on the Beanstack app.

This year's theme, "Plant a Seed, Read," celebrates all the ways that we grow through reading, and to honor our community roots, we're challenging Nashua to read 1 million minutes by August 8. Help us reach that goal, and we'll donate two fruit trees to Nashua High School South's new community orchard this fall. 🌳

As we begin to wrap up another year at Everybody’s Academics, I have been taking some time to reflect on this journey and, most importantly, on all of the incredible students and families I have had the privilege of working with 💛

If you were to look back at my professional path, you would see a unique and layered experience. I have always been a big picture thinker, driven to understand each piece of a system, how those pieces fit together or fail to, and to examine the underlying, interwoven details so that we can more effectively support individuals and families.

This mindset guided my early work in social services, where I intentionally moved across areas from case management, to clinical work in addictions, reunification, adoption, group homes, and juvenile detention. Each interconnected experience refined my approach to problem solving and advocacy, and ultimately led me into education, where I found the greatest opportunity to create meaningful, lasting change.

What may be considered my own “special interest” became a professional strength. I developed a strong ability to identify patterns across systems, recognize where connections break down, and approach challenges with creative, holistic solutions.

As life shifted and I became a parent myself, my professional and personal worlds merged. Building Everybody’s Academics has provided me with a new and continually evolving perspective. Working alongside families, students, and schools, and seeing the system from the outside in has deepened my understanding and continues to shape the work I do every day.

Over the past five years, some clear patterns and needs have continued to emerge across the families I support:

• A strong need for guidance in understanding and navigating special education and school based services
• Consistent literacy needs across all ages and ability levels in reading, writing, and language development
• Increasing demand for executive functioning, organization, and regulation support
• The need for emotional, behavioral, and whole child support alongside academics
• Barriers to accessing services including long waitlists, high costs, and limited availability to evaluations and clinical supports
• A lack of accessible, community based support and social opportunities for both neurodivergent and neurotypical students and their families

These realities continue to shape both the services I offer and the direction of my ongoing training and professional development.

This year, I have:

• Continued advanced training in Structured Literacy and Orton Gillingham based instruction through IMSE
• Worked toward completing my Advanced Interventionist and CERI certifications
• Expanded my work in educational evaluations to provide more comprehensive, accessible assessment options
• Continued supporting families in advocacy and school collaboration

Looking ahead, I will be:

• Completing the final phase of my IMSE and CERI certification this summer
• Participating in additional advocacy training through Wrightslaw and COPAA
• Continuing to deepen my knowledge of both Massachusetts and New Hampshire special education regulations
• Expanding evaluation services to better support families and reduce wait times
• Developing expanded literacy programming to provide more intensive, targeted intervention for students with reading and writing needs

As EBA continues to grow, my goal remains the same: to provide thoughtful, responsive, and meaningful support that reflects the real and holistic needs of the families I serve.

Current families are already reserving their seats for next year’s ongoing school year support program (tuition based weekly sessions), and I will be posting soon to share any open availability.

I will also be sharing more details about our new literacy intervention program launching this fall, and evaluation services are now open for summer registration.

I always try to keep a small number of single session openings available, so if you are on our waitlist, please know those individual times are available for intermittent student and family support.

Thank you, as always, for your trust and partnership. Being a part of your children’s lives makes mine feel complete. 🥰

IEP vs. 504… what’s the difference?

This is one of the most common questions I get from families and one of the most important to understand when advocating for your child.

504 Plan = Access:

Supports that help a student access the curriculum. No specialized instruction. Examples may include extended time, chunking, preferential seating, or text-to-speech.

IEP = Instruction + Skill Building:

Specialized, individualized instruction in addition to supports. Includes measurable goals and progress monitoring. Examples may include structured literacy, math intervention, and executive functioning support.

Both protect your child’s right to a free and appropriate public education. Both involve a written plan and team collaboration. Both are provided at no cost to families.

However, only an IEP includes individualized goals, direct instruction, and progress tracking on skill development.

So how do you know which your child needs?

Ask yourself:

Is my child struggling to access learning?

or

Do they need to be taught skills differently?

That distinction matters and often determines the level of support your child receives.

Just good information to have! Parent have options! 🙂
