JoJo was back at U of M today to see her oncologists and have sedated hearing tests, MRI, and CT. If her scans come back clear, she won't need them again. However, she is going to benefit from hearing aids, as her testing confirmed she has moderate to severe hearing loss in the upper frequencies as a side effect of the chemo. She was extremely hangry, it's hard to sneak food to the other kids and keep her from eating before scans. Overall the doctors were happy with her growth and development.

Jojo's bloodwork today indicates that she has been in remission for a year now. Her heart and kidneys seem to be in great shape and only her hearing was likely affected by the chemo. She'll have another set of scans in August, hopefully along with her sedated hearing tests. What a difference from last year to this year.

It was a busy week for Jojo hence the late update on her scan results! All clear and looking good! She was back at the hospital again on Wednesday for hearing tests. It does seem like she has some hearing loss in the higher frequencies, a pretty common side effect of the chemo drug Cisplatin that she received. Next step will be brain stem response testing under sedation to determine the severity and whether she might benefit from an assistive hearing device. It doesn't seem to impact her daily activities and her speech and language, while a bit behind, is similar to her sisters. They are all working with early on intervention services through the school district so they will be able to help evaluate if she seems to be struggling at all in that area.

Jojo was back at the hospital today for MRI/CT under anesthesia. This is probably the clearest her lungs have ever been going in so we are hoping for really good pictures, it would make the 2 hour wait in pre-op all worth it! We probably won't hear until Monday. She continues to do extremely well at home and has been enjoying some of the warmer weather days we've had playing outside with her siblings.
