Looking for meaningful, experiential training for your staff?

Sandtray work can take us deep—which is why anchoring and regulation matter. The sandtray itself can be a powerful regulator, while grounding activities through movement, rhythm, sensory experiences, bilateral drawing, journaling and play can help reset the nervous system before, during, and after deeper work.

When we support the nervous system, we create more space for connection, creativity, and possibility.

A special thank-you to the amazing group at TLC Wellness TLC Wellness . Your openness, curiosity, insights, and ability to work as a team were truly inspiring. The safe and protective space you created made it possible for everyone to explore, connect, and learn together.

Balancing a feather invites focus, breath, body awareness, visual tracking, coordination, and regulation — all through PLAY.

Simple. Playful. Regulating.

And apparently a little addictive. And I’m a little obsessed since this is my second post balancing peacock feathers and I’m sure it will not be my last.

Real Men Play. ❤️

Neal King, LCSW is putting his playful talents to work again! There’s something powerful about rhythm. We experience rhythm from the very beginning—the steady beat of a heartbeat, the rhythm of our breath, the rocking and movement that can help us feel soothed and regulated.

Drumming brings rhythm into the body. It can support focus, coordination and regulation—and when we drum with someone else, we find a shared rhythm and connection.
And one of my favorite things about play?
A toy never has to be used the way it was intended.
So grab some blocks, buckets, wooden spoons…whatever you have and jam out!

Find your rhythm. Make some noise. Go play.

I was gifted The Growth Mindset Workbook for Anxious Kids by Lauren Mosback, and there are so many great activities inside.

One of my favorites is Activity 19: Meet the Thought Trap Monsters.

In the video, I accidentally said I remember what “monsters” my children were growing up. lol! I meant their Thought Trap Monsters… although, let’s be real, we all have our monster moments, don’t we? 👹😂

What Thought Trap Monster likes to show up for you or your kids? How does it try to trick you?

Watching Serena and Venus back on the court together after 10 years felt like more than tennis.

Family. Resilience. Connection. Never giving up.

One of my favorite things about doubles tennis happens after every single point—partners reconnect. A hand tap. A fist bump. A racket tap.

Win or lose the point, they come back to each other.

That tiny moment is a reset. It brings the body back into connection, back into relationship—and that is regulation.

Next time you watch a doubles match—or play one yourself—notice what happens between the points.

Connect. Reset. Begin again. 🎾

Hand games are such a simple and playful way to strengthen connection.

They build rhythm, attunement, laughter, and co-regulation—all through play.

My daughter, was actually the one who introduced me to Double Double This This, which turned into a favorite for me to teach in my trainings and with my clients.

Think about the hand games you played as a kid. Teach them to your children…or let them teach you theirs.

Real Men Play: Hide & Seek Edition

Hide & seek is such a simple game, but there is so much happening underneath it—attachment, safety, co-regulation, rupture and repair, and pure joy.

Marshall Lyles says hide & seek may be the only game where you’re excited to lose. There is something so powerful about being found.

I go much deeper into the power of hide & seek in my sandtray trainings.

Creative date night.

You’re never too old for crayons. There’s something so grounding and regulating about coloring—slowing down, creating, and giving respite to an overactive brain.

Maybe Shirley Temple had it right… staying young at heart means making room for creativity and play.

Stay curious. Stay creative. Keep playing.

I LOVE Bubble Tennis!
This simple Theraplay activity is one of my favorite prescriptions for play—wonderful for transitions, quieting an anxious mind, co-regulation, working with the breath, and building attunement and connection.

So simple. So playful. And most importantly-SO FUN!!!
