We assume their tap water is held to the highest standard in the world. It's not even close.

Europe regulates PFAS as an entire chemical family. The US sets limits one compound at a time, out of 8,000+ known forever chemicals. Other developed nations require regular updates to their water standards. The US doesn't. A limit set 30 years ago can sit on the books untouched.

The USGS tested tap water across the country and found forever chemicals in nearly 1 out of 3 samples. Private wells. City water. It didn't matter. PFAS showed up in both at almost identical levels.

These aren't trace amounts the media is hyping up. When PFAS were detected, they exceeded the EPA's own proposed safety limits in up to 77% of those samples. And the EPA's health goal for the worst ones? Zero. No safe level exists.

45% of US drinking water is estimated to contain at least one forever chemical, and that number is probably low since researchers only tested a fraction of the 8,000+ PFAS compounds that exist.

Your filter matters. Your water source matters. And if you're not actively removing these from your drinking water, you're drinking them.

Forever chemicals are probably in your water - and the data backs it up.

In 2023, researchers tested over 700 homes across the U.S., pulling from both private wells and city water. They found PFAS in 45% of samples. And they only screened for 32 of more than 12,000 known compounds. That number isn't a worst case estimate. It's the floor.

The EPA just approved three new PFAS “forever chemicals” to be sprayed on food crops like wheat and citrus, with zero public announcement and zero warning to consumers. These chemicals never fully break down, meaning they end up in soil, runoff, and eventually your drinking water. One of the three was even flagged by the EPA’s own scientists as potentially cancer causing. Filtering your water matters, but PFAS is now being introduced into the food supply at the source.
