250 classes. đ¤
A huge congratulations to Tylette on joining our 250 Club!
Tylette is in a posture called Eka Pada Viparita Dandasana (One-Legged Inverted Staff Pose), one of the most advanced classical backbends in yoga.
Working towards advanced poses like this one is part of the fun of a yoga practice, but itâs important to note that in one of yogaâs foundational texts, the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, out of 196 sutras, only 3 of them talk about asana, the physical postures⌠and none of the poses we often practice in yoga classes today were mentioned.
The sutras donât tell us how to do handstands, arm balances, or deep backbends. It simply says that âthe posture should be steady and easeful.â Imagine doing this pose with no strain, smooth breathing and a quiet mind. Thatâs yoga.
Itâs a good reminder that yoga was never meant to be about how advanced a pose looks. The poses are just one of the many ways we practice yoga. They give us the opportunity to notice our breath, our thoughts, our reactions, and how we respond when things get uncomfortable.
Thatâs one of the things we admire about Tylette. Sheâs dedicated to the physical practice, but sheâs just as committed to learning and living yoga beyond the poses. She asks thoughtful questions, stays curious, and truly embraces the practice in all its forms.
250 classes is an incredible accomplishment, but what weâre really celebrating is the commitment, the consistency, and all the growth thatâs happened along the way.
Congratulations, Tylette. Weâre so grateful youâre part of the Ebb & Flow community. â¤ď¸
