UADA - Sharp County Each year Arkansas 4-H youth receive more than $80,000 in college scholarships at the state level for their 4-H work.

4-H is the youth development program conducted by the University of Arkansas, Division of Agriculture, Cooperative Extension Service. 4-H members can select from many activities in 82 project areas ranging from automotive to clothing to space camp. Adult leaders, trained by county Cooperative Extension Service Faculty, teach projects to children using the "learn -by-doing" method. 4-H teaches lead

ership, citizenship, and skills children will use through out their lives. Some scholarships are available at the county level. The mission of 4-H is to provide opportunities for youth to acquire knowledge, develop life skills, form attitudes, and practice behavior that will enable them to become self directing, productive, and contributing members of society. 🍀Applications for the 2027 CALL Program are OPEN🍀

The Livestock Leaders serve as ambassadors for 4-H Livestock programs while gaining valuable leadership and networking skills. Youth will connect with industry leaders, learn about career opportunities in the livestock industries, and develop friendships that will last a lifetime.

Youth must apply in ZSuite by October 30th. Open to Senior 4-H'ers ages 13-17 as of 1/1/26 (ages 14-18 for 2027). We will select 22 youth based on resume, cover letter, 3 short essays, knowledge pre-test, and an interview. The 2027 CALL Tour will be a 5-day trip touring livestock operations and businesses in Louisiana, Mississippi, and Tennessee!

Keep these required dates in mind before applying to the CALL Program:
Oct. 30: Application deadline
Nov. 23-24: Interview dates for top applications
Jan. 15-16: CALL Training at Arkansas 4-H Center
July 5-9: 2027 CALL Tour

🍀Once a 4-H’er, Always a 4-H’er.💚

Today, the Sevier County 4-H family remembers one of our own, Dolly Parton.

Before the world knew her name, Dolly was a young girl growing up here in the mountains of Sevier County — and a member of 4-H. From those humble beginnings, she went on to touch millions of lives through her music, generosity, kindness, and unwavering love for her East Tennessee home.

Dolly showed generations of young people that you can dream bigger than your circumstances, go farther than you ever imagined, and still never forget where you came from.

We are incredibly proud that the 4-H clover was a small part of her remarkable story. 🍀

Her legacy will live on in these mountains, in the lives she changed, and in generations of young people who will continue to dream big because she showed them they could.

Thank you, Dolly, for making Sevier County proud and for showing us all what it means to use your head, heart, hands, and health to make the best better. đź’š
