Tamarack Health Ashland Medical Center Tamarack Health Ashland Medical Center is a not-for-profit hospital located in Ashland, Wisconsin.

Memorial Medical Center (MMC) is a Critical Access Hospital with over 60 full-time physicians on staff and over 500 dedicated employees. Located in the city of Ashland, MMC serves as a regional medical referral center for patients from seven northwestern Wisconsin counties and the neighboring Gogebic County of Michigan. MMC offers inpatient and outpatient services including: medical-surgical; inte

nsive care; obstetrics including labor, delivery, postpartum and recovery (LDPR) suites; behavioral health; and 24-hour emergency care. Inpatient and outpatient surgeries include: orthopedic, urology, ophthalmology, ENT and OB/GYN in addition to general surgery. Support diagnostic services include: laboratory; radiology with MRI, CT and diagnostic ultrasound; nutritional services; pharmacy; endoscopy suites and a sleep disorder center. Rehabilitation services include: cardiac rehabilitation and cardiopulmonary rehabilitation; physical therapy and sports medicine. Lifeline emergency response system, hospice services and social services are also available within MMC. An additional building on the MMC campus houses the Behavioral Health Services providing inpatient and outpatient AODA and mental health care and therapies. MMC opened as a private, not-for-profit hospital in 1972, combining the services previously provided by Trinity Hospital and Ashland Community Hospital, both located in Ashland. MMC is the only hospital located in Ashland, Bayfield and Iron Counties.

Meet Dr. Steven Canales, a dual-trained physician in internal medicine and pediatrics, which allows him to care for patients at every stage of life, from newborns and children through adults and seniors. He completed his combined Internal Medicine-Pediatrics residency at LSU Health Shreveport, where he was active in quality improvement and medical education and developed interests in preventive care, chronic disease management, and the thoughtful use of technology to improve patient care.

The current display in our Behavioral Health Outpatient waiting area features an amazing quilter, Kay Price-Lee. Kay began sewing when she was only 8 years old. She is a member of the Chequamegon Bay Quilters Club and she started a quilting club of her own that sent 522 handmade quilts to Ukraine when the war began. Two beautiful quilts made by Kay will be up until the end of September in our BH waiting area. Stop by and see them if you are visiting the Tamarack Health Ashland Medical Center campus.

The Rescue Divas stopped by Tamarack Health Ashland Medical Center today as part of their weeklong, hands-on EMS camp for 5th–8th grade girls. This unique program introduces participants to emergency medical services through fun, interactive training like first aid, CPR, search-and-rescue skills, and behind-the-scenes tours. We look forward to hosting them each year!

The Northwest Wisconsin Cancer Center (NWCC) of Tamarack Health Ashland Medical Center, in collaboration with Essentia Health, has partnered with Living Beyond Breast Cancer, a national nonprofit organization that provides trusted breast cancer information and a community of support, to host a series of workshops for young people diagnosed with breast cancer before the age of 45.

NWCC is one of over 25 cancer centers selected to host this series this year. The Survivorship Series will consist of two evening sessions: Thursday, August 20 and Thursday, August 27, from 5:30-8:00 pm. The meetings will be held at the North/South Twin Island meeting rooms at Tamarack Health Ashland Medical Center, 1615 Maple Lane, Ashland, WI 54806.

Tamarack Health is proud to be part of our community’s National Night Out celebrations to promote police and community partnerships on August 4th.

We will have free bike helmets for the whole family at the Ashland Police Department; Hayward Intermediate School; Love Memorial Field in Minong and at the VFW in Springbrook from 5 - 7 PM or while supplies last. Remember to always ride safe!
