Bronchiectasis is a chronic lung condition that can cause persistent cough, daily mucus production, and recurrent respiratory infections. Early diagnosis and appropriate treatment can improve quality of life and reduce flare-ups.

May is National Asthma and Allergy Awareness Month! Many people are experiencing increased symptoms as our local allergens peak this time of year. Dave and Hilary Anderson, physician associates at Coastal Pulmonary Care in Atascadero, are here to help support great asthma control all year round for adult asthma patients. Biologic medications are becoming a huge game changer for many asthma patients. We can assess if this would help improve your asthma. We also treat many other respiratory problem, such as COPD, sleep apnea, shortness of breath and chronic cough. Happy PA week!!!!

From October 6-12, the American Academy of Physician Associates/Assistants recognizes PA Week to bring greater awareness to our profession, our contributions to the nation’s health, and to let our patients know – we are here for you!

One year ago the only outpatient pulmonary practice in San Luis Obispo County closed its door, and after practicing in this county as a pulmonary specialty PA for the past 16 years, and along with the partnership of my wife and fellow PA Hilary Anderson, I was able to open the doors of my own Physician Assistant owned and operated outpatient pulmonary clinic in Atascadero. We started our practice just in time to provide desperately needed services for pulmonary patients - asthma, chronic bronchitis, emphysema, supplemental oxygen needs, valley fever, chronic cough, bronchiectasis, lung infections, lung fibrosis, lung nodules, ni****ne dependence, and sleep apnea.

It’s been a joy for us to help fill this need in our community. PAs know patients are counting on us, and as a PA for more than 26 years, I can think of no better way to mark this week than with a pledge to my community to continue to be your advocate.
