The veteran to veteran bond is like no other. Which is why we’re proud to have so many people on our team who have also served in the military.

There’s an instant comfort and feeling of understanding between our veteran team members and the veterans we serve. And it’s just as important to us as it is to our patients.

This afternoon at 3 p.m. local time, take a minute from your day to observe the National Moment of Remembrance.

For 60 seconds, we come together as a country to pay tribute to the courageous individuals who made the ultimate sacrifice in our armed forces.

Women are more likely to be family caregivers, to manage healthcare decisions for their children, and urge their significant others to seek medical care.

But who takes care of their health?

Our care teams step in to support the women who support everyone else, allowing them to receive the compassion they give.

After a stroke, a struggle to speak isn’t necessarily linked to comprehension.

With aphasia, a stroke survivor often understands what you’re saying to them and knows exactly how they want to respond, but finds themselves unable to get their words out.

So continue to communicate normally with someone who has suffered a stroke! Your understanding is much appreciated.

Supporting your spouse is nothing new for military caregivers.

Through deployments and new assignments, you made their service possible.

The difference now is that we are here to help.

Home-based healthcare can alleviate some of your caregiving responsibilities, so you can concentrate on being a present partner.Think of it as our thank you for you and your spouse’s service.

When we say you are not alone in your mental health struggles, we mean it.

That’s why we provide counseling through our hospice social workers as well as spiritual aid from our chaplains.

We help those facing the end of their lives process their feelings, as well as loved ones experiencing grief.

For lupus patients who have spent years battling the disease, there may come a time when kidney failure reaches the point of needing comfort care rather than continued treatment.

Some signs include:

• Fluid retention and breathlessness
• A sharp decline in appetite
• An interest in transitioning away from dialysis in favor of quality of life

Our hospice care team is here to expertly manage these complex symptoms and focus on their emotional and comfort needs.

During National Hospital Week, we celebrate the acute care teams who brilliantly stabilize our patients during emergencies.

When that critical work is done, we proudly take the baton to continue caring for these patients as they return to the familiar comfort of their own home.
