As men were off hunting centuries ago, it was a woman’s role to forage for mushrooms.

Their discoveries and understandings of fungi paved the way for scientific advancements of medicinal mushrooms today.

Beatrix Potter, famed author of The Tales of Peter Rabbit, drew beautiful, scientific illustrations of fungi. Her interest furthered by authoring a scientific paper on mushroom reproduction and consulting male-counterparts on their own works.

It wasn’t until decades later that she was recognized and appreciated for her contributions in mycology.
