👀 Behind the scenes...
Take a peek inside my garage. 😄
It may look like a wall of labeled bins, but this is where a lot of my therapy planning starts.
One of my favorite ways to organize therapy is by theme.
Instead of coming up with completely new activities every week, I'll spend a few weeks using the same theme in lots of different ways.
We might read different books, play with themed toys, explore sensory bins, use matching games, answer WH questions, practice speech sounds, or work on AAC—all centered around the same idea.
The theme stays the same.
✨ The activities change.
✨ The goals change.
✨ The child leads the play.
I actually love keeping the same theme around for a while because children learn through repetition. Familiar materials help build confidence, encourage deeper play, strengthen attention, and create opportunities to practice new skills in different ways.
It's also a strategy I recommend to parents!
You don't need a house full of toys or something brand new every week. Try rotating a few books and toys every couple of weeks instead. Bringing out a familiar theme after it's been tucked away often makes it feel exciting all over again.
Sometimes less really is more.
Children don't need endless novelty—they need meaningful opportunities to play, connect, and learn. 💙
