Shared living is changing the way people think about housing.

For years, the idea was that everyone needed their own apartment or house in order to feel independent. But with the cost of housing continuing to rise, more people are realizing that shared living can offer something different: affordability, community, stability, and flexibility.

Shared living does not have to mean giving up comfort or dignity. When it is done well, it can mean having your own personal space while sharing the cost and convenience of a well maintained home.

I truly believe shared living is going to become an even bigger part of the future of housing, especially for older adults, people on fixed incomes, professionals in transition, and anyone looking for a more practical way to live.

At The James Home, our goal is to create more than just a place to stay. We want to create homes where people can feel comfortable, respected, and connected.

The James Home Journey ❤️🏡

When I started this journey, I wasn’t just looking to fill rooms. I wanted to create a place where people could feel safe, respected, and have a fresh start.

Coming from over 15 years in social work, I’ve met so many individuals who simply needed stability, structure, and someone who genuinely cared. That’s what inspired me to open The James Home.

There have been long days, unexpected expenses, late night phone calls, furniture to assemble, beds to make, and plenty of moments where I questioned whether I could pull it all together.

But every time I walk into one of these rooms, I remember why I started.

This isn’t just a house.

It’s a home.

A place where men can rebuild their lives, regain their independence, and be treated with dignity.

Every rug, every bed, every dresser, every picture on the wall has been chosen with care because I believe everyone deserves to come home to a space they can be proud of.

We’re still growing, still learning, and still building something special one room, one resident, and one day at a time.

One year ago, this was just an idea. Today, it’s becoming a home for people who need a safe place to rebuild their lives. There is still work to do, but I’m grateful for how far we’ve come.”
