You can be doing well and still feel like everything is going wrong.

One small mistake turns into “I always mess up”.
One comment becomes “they must think badly of me”.
One bad day feels like a disaster.

This is how the mind can trick you. It fills in gaps, focuses on the negative, and convinces you it is all true. Overthinking, anxiety and low mood often start here.

But thoughts are not facts. They are patterns - and patterns can change.

Learning to notice these thinking traps is a powerful step towards feeling calmer, more in control, and kinder to yourself.

Most people only see the surface of self-harm - the behaviour, the injuries, the fear.

But underneath, there is usually pain that has not been spoken about.

Self-harm is often a way of coping with overwhelming feelings - sadness, anxiety, anger, shame, or feeling completely numb. It is not about attention. It is about not knowing how else to deal with what is going on inside.

If we only focus on what we can see, we miss what really matters.
Children need to feel safe, heard, and understood - not judged.

Because behaviour is communication.

That "I don't feel like it" feeling is real, and you're not weak for having it. ❤️‍🩹

Your non-conscious mind generated that mood, possibly from a stress pattern that was running long before today's goals even entered the picture. A pattern your mind built. Working exactly as designed.

Here's what the research shows: your mood and your decision to act don't have to be synchronized. Your directed mind, the part that made the plan when you were clear-headed, runs on a different signal than your emotional state.

You can feel unmotivated and still move. Those two things can coexist. Each time you choose the plan anyway, that underlying pattern begins to shift.

The version of you that set the goal had good judgment. Trust them.
