Thanks to the trainers during our Sea, Sleep & Support cruise recently, I gained a little nugget of knowledge I have never heard mentioned in previous trainings! (Thank you to www.NannyAnne.com for making this graphic!)

Did you know? 👶

Powdered formula isn’t sterile and can sometimes contain bacteria (Cronobacter) that can be harmful for young babies. Most formula cans have this recommendation written on them, but in small print and often under the label.

What do most of us do? Use room temp bottled water for convenience, or the baby Brezza machine, which doesn’t get hot enough.

A simple safety step:
👉 Mix formula with water that’s been boiled and cooled to about 158°F (70°C) to help kill bacteria.

Most full-term, healthy babies can safely have formula prepared with room temperature water when proper hygiene is followed. However, using hot water (~158°F / 70°C) is especially important for babies under 3 months, those born prematurely, or with lower immunity, as it helps reduce the risk of bacteria in powdered formula.

Quick storage reminders:
• Fridge: 24 hours
• Room temp: 2 hours
• Don’t save leftover bottles

This isn’t about scaring anyone. It’s just one of those small, lesser-known safety steps that can really matter in those early months. ❤️

A Postpartum Doula day doesn’t look the same twice because no two families are the same.
Some days it’s holding space.
Some days it’s feeding help.
Some days it’s protecting your rest while you sleep, shower, eat a hot meal, or just breathe.
It’s emotional support.
It’s practical help.
It’s education, reassurance, and reminding you that this phase is intense and temporary.
You don’t have to do postpartum alone. 🤍

Postpartum comes with a lot of well-meaning advice… and a lot of myths 🙃
There’s no “right” timeline. There’s no prize for doing it all alone. Postpartum affects partners too. Feeding is something that’s learned, not magically mastered.
If this stage feels harder than you expected, it doesn’t mean you’re failing. It means you’re postpartum. 🤍
Support, rest, and guidance matter for both parents.
Save this or share it with someone who needs the reminder.

Let’s be honest, the early newborn weeks can be a lot. The sleep deprivation is very real! Most providers recommend feeding every 2–3 hours around the clock until your baby is back to its original birth weight. If you’re planning to bottle feed, here’s one approach you can try to help everyone get a bit more rest while still keeping up with those frequent feeds. However you feed your baby, formula, breast milk, or a combination, I’m here to tell you you’re doing a good job! There’s no one right way here. Fed is best, and what matters most is what feels right for you.

The postpartum period is full of big changes: physically, hormonally, and emotionally. It’s completely normal to feel like life is a little (or a lot) heavier than you expected. Needing support doesn’t mean you’re failing; it means your body, mind, and baby are adjusting to a huge transition.
Support can look like:
• Practical help from a partner, friend, or family member
• Professional support: IBCLC, therapist, or postpartum doula
• Emotional check-ins or parent support groups
• Time to rest and recover without pressure
Remember: support isn’t just for emergencies! It’s for caring for yourself so you can care for your baby. You deserve help, rest, and connection. 💛

The first few weeks postpartum? They’re harder than anyone warned you about… 😅
💛 Hormones are wild
🍼 Feeding is a learning curve
😴 Rest = healing
💪 Struggling doesn’t mean you’re failing

Partners can feel this too! 🤍

If these feelings stick around past a few weeks, don’t wait! Call your doctor. Support makes a huge difference. 💌You don’t have to do this alone.

Every feeding journey looks different and all of them are valid. There is no "right" way to feed your baby. Nursing, pumping, bottles, formula, combo feeding...there's no judgment here. Most providers recommend feeding your newborn every 2-3 hours, even overnight, at least until your baby has reached its original birth weight. This is just one example of how you can meet those needs while protecting your milk supply if you desire feeding breast milk exclusively all while prioritizing rest.
