Mother’s Day Message: The Story Behind Why Not Us
Mother’s Day used to be my least favorite holiday. For years, while I was yearning to be a mother and quietly wrestling with infertility, the day brought a bittersweet ache instead of joy. It was a reminder of what felt just out of reach—a dream I longed for but struggled to grasp.
That experience inspired my husband and I to write our first book entitled "Why Not Us". We wanted to give voice to the quiet hopes, the heartaches, and the resilience found in that journey. Writing this book became a way to heal, to connect, and most importantly, to say to every woman, every man, every couple who’s ever felt invisible or left behind, “Why not us? Why can’t our dreams come true?”
Today, Mother’s Day holds a different meaning for me. It’s a celebration of hope, strength, and the diverse ways love grows—whether through biological children, chosen family, or the dreams we dare to chase. I hope Why Not Us encourages others to keep believing in their story, no matter the obstacles.
To all the mothers, hopeful mothers, and those still writing their chapters, this weekend is for you.
