The idea that higher will is always the prettiest, is always the easiest, that it should all be in perfect flow at all times, will indeed confound you now. But it is true that when one is caught in the undertow, wrapped in a whirlpool, there are times when what one must do is float on one’s back and lift with the current to the higher tone that must also be available. To struggle against the old, to demand that it be what it has been and how it should be, based on your edict, must be seen as a re-creation of doctrine or past identity known through the collective field. Some of you say to us, “I just want to be comfortable.” This isn’t the time to be comfortable. This is the time to wake up to the discomfort that you experience, and ask the Divine Self or the God within you, “How can I be present in this? How may I know myself in this? How may I support my brother, my sister, my neighbor in this? How can I lift through this chasm that I experience to the light that I know must be there?”
Now, knowing is realization. When one is moving through a dark night, when a country is moving through a dark night, one must be aware that there is still light present even though it cannot be seen. Because the action of fear is to claim more fear, most of you abide in the realization that you should be afraid and then find yourself, again and again, carried by that channel, carried by that current, claimed in the underground cave, if you wish, where the darkness excels and you don’t perceive that light can shine. When one comes from the bottom of the sea, and one lifts and lifts and lifts, there is time that comes when the light can be seen through the murky water, through the undercurrent, through the tide that is shifting. But in time it comes, and when it comes you break through and you breathe easily and you say the words, “I am in the Upper Room. I Have Come.”
