Today, July 10, is Chronic Disease Awareness Day. 🩺❤️

Managing a chronic condition like diabetes, hypertension, or heart disease takes a village - but for thousands of uninsured Georgians, access to consistent care can feel out of reach.

The Urban Clinic of Atlanta, part of the Georgia Charitable Care Network, provides a vital safety net, ensuring patients with chronic diseases receive the ongoing treatment, education, and medications they need to live healthier, fuller lives.

Today, let’s shine a light on the power of accessible healthcare. If you’d like to support our mission, visit urbanclinic.org/donate.

Do you know how The Urban Clinic of Atlanta got started?

More than 10 years ago, our founder and Executive Director, Susan Porter Whatley, was volunteering at an Urban Recipe food co-op in Grant Park when she saw firsthand that many of the people she met had nowhere to turn for healthcare. As a nurse practitioner, she knew she could help.

In a small room at that same church on Georgia Avenue, Susan began seeing patients: checking blood pressures, drawing labs, and providing compassionate, free care to uninsured neighbors.

Today, that one-room clinic has grown into two locations serving nearly 900 uninsured adults each year.

We are excited to celebrate this incredible journey at our UCA 10th Anniversary Celebration on Sunday, September 27, at the Delta Flight Museum.

We'd love for you to join us! Reserve your seat or table today at urbanclinic.org/anniversary.

July is Minority Mental Health Month, a time to recognize the importance of mental health and the barriers to care that many racial and ethnic minority communities continue to face.

At The Urban Clinic of Atlanta, we understand the strong connection between mental health and physical health. Conditions like stress, anxiety, and depression can impact chronic illnesses such as diabetes and hypertension, making whole-person care essential. We are committed to providing compassionate, integrated care that supports both the physical and emotional well-being of our patients.
