The Heart of Marriage Retreat is Atlanta's premier retreat/workshop targeting married African American couples. Through a series of interactive, energetic, and spirit filled sessions couples are afforded an opportunity to enrich their marriage. The retreat is presented by Couples Who Care marriage ministry of Ben Hill United Methodist Church and The Marriage Enrichment Ministry of Cascade United Methodist Church; and Providence Missionary Baptist Church.

Today, we celebrate a miracle. 🧡

One year ago today, God gave my husband another chance at life — May 1st will forever mark the day of his heart transplant—a new beginning!

I’m a witness that God is still in the miracle-working business.

This past year stretched our faith and our marriage in ways we never imagined. It brought us back to the VOWS we made—“in sickness and in health.” Those words took on a deeper meaning as we walked through this journey together.

Marriage isn’t just about the good days—it’s about the moments when you don’t have answers, when you feel weary, and when all you can do is pray and trust God to carry you through.

To our Heart of Marriage couples—when health challenges come, hold on to your spouse even tighter. Cover your marriage in prayer, keep God at the center, and stand together through every diagnosis, every setback, and every victory. With Him, your marriage can endure.

Today is a beautiful reminder to pause and intentionally show GRATITUDE for the one you said “I do” to. Marriage thrives when appreciation is expressed—not assumed.

Here are a few simple, meaningful ways to show your spouse you’re thankful for them:

💜 Say it out loud – Don’t just feel it… express it. A sincere “I appreciate you” can go a long way.
💜 Do the little things – Take something off their plate today without being asked.
💜 Write it down – Leave a sweet note, text, or even a voice message sharing what you love about them.
💜 Be present – Put the phone down, make eye contact, and truly listen.
