A reminder that movement isn’t just about exercise—it’s about building healthy habits that last a lifetime. ☀️💪🏾

As we head into summer, I encourage families to get outside together. Take a walk after dinner, ride bikes, play at the park, swim, dance, or simply spend less time sitting and more time moving. Children learn by watching us, and when physical activity becomes a family priority, everyone benefits.

Remember: movement doesn’t have to be complicated to be effective. Every step, every stretch, and every active moment counts.

Healthy eating for families doesn’t have to be complicated. One of my favorite grocery shopping hacks is to shop the perimeter of the store first — that’s usually where you’ll find the freshest fruits, vegetables, proteins, and dairy options. Then head into the center aisles with a plan instead of grabbing processed foods out of convenience.

Small changes make a big difference over time. Choosing more whole foods, reading labels, and keeping healthy snacks readily available at home can help set children up for lifelong healthy habits. Remember, progress matters more than perfection!

As a board-certified pediatrician specializing in weight management, I want families to know that every child’s journey is different. There is no “one-size-fits-all” approach when it comes to a child’s health and well-being.

My goal is to help children build healthy habits, confidence, and lifelong wellness in a way that is compassionate, realistic, and tailored to their individual needs — not just focused on a number on the scale. Because every child deserves care that sees the whole child, not just their weight. 💜

As a pediatrician, I’ve spent years caring for young girls and watching firsthand the pressures they face far too early — from confidence struggles to mental health challenges and trying to live up to unrealistic expectations. That’s one of the reasons I was inspired to create Girls Growing Gracefully — to help young girls feel seen, supported, educated, and empowered as they navigate life.
