A few years ago I read the book Mary Magdalene Revealed by Meggan Waterson and felt inspired to come visit the South of France where she came to live after the crucifixion. During my years as a Christian, the sacred feminine was sorely missing from my education and practice. Early in my career I was working at a psychiatric hospital on a women’s unit. Many women had experienced violence and abuse at the hands of men and yet they felt Jesus’s message to them was to be more self-sacrificing. I couldn’t reconcile that and so I explored other traditions. I love the subtitle of Mary Magdalene Revealed: “The First Apostle, Her Feminist Gospel, and the Christianity We Haven’t Tried Yet.” Mary’s Gospel was hidden for centuries and multiple copies were found in the late 1800s but even then it took decades for it to be published. Have you heard of Mary’s gospel? She writes about the importance of turning towards whatever arises within us with Love. This is exactly what I do with my clients through Mindful Self-Compassion and Internal Family Systems. My spiritual journey has taken me through explorations of Buddhism, Judaism, earth based spirituality and more. But I love seeing the words of my early Christian faith through new eyes. The work that fills me up the most is nurturing a community where we can explore practices to love ourselves and each other in radical ways. We all have old stories and conditioning that have led us to shrink or conform, and we deserve the kind of radical Love that supports us to follow our own inner alignment with freedom and joy! So that’s what I’m doing in France - finding delight in following my own inner path. If you’d like to learn more about the containers I offer click the link in my bio. Circle up is a six week container where we practice inner self-connection and radical love. And check out the “Be You” retreat on the Georgia coast this September where we will get to practice loving community together in person! It’s going to be so much fun!
