And while these above recommendations are a good start...studies show that they may not be enough to decrease fall risk.

To make a big difference in fall risk people need a personalized fall reduction plan, that takes into account their specific fall risk factors.

Testing leg strength during our Balance and Fall Prevention education class last month at the Freeman Poole Senior Center.

30 second Chair Stand Test. To complete test sit in chair, and stand up timing yourself for 30 seconds. Count the number of time you complete a full stand. A score below average for your age range indicates a risk for falls. Scores less than 8 unassisted stands are associated with lower levels of functional ability.
