World Mental Health Day is a good reminder that different needs call for different kinds of support.

A helpful question to ask is:

What kind of support do you need right now?

Education / Self-Guided Support
Helpful when you want to better understand a topic, reflect, or use a worksheet or practical tool.

Community / Resource Support
Helpful when you are trying to locate or navigate resources related to food, housing, employment, finances, healthcare, family support, or other community concerns.

Clinical Mental-Health Care
Helpful when you need individualized assessment, counseling, treatment, or support from a qualified mental-health professional.

Emergency / Crisis Support
Appropriate when there is immediate danger, a mental-health emergency, or an urgent safety concern.

DSFL can provide educational tools, resource and referral navigation, and help identifying possible next steps. We do not guarantee eligibility, funding, provider acceptance, or resource availability.

For self-guided education, explore DSFL’s Individual Resources. If you need individualized help identifying possible resources or next steps, use the DSFL Self-Referral for Support form.

If you are in a crisis, call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room for immediate assistance. Call or text the Su***de & Crisis Lifeline at 988.

Save this guide so you have it when you or someone you care about needs help choosing a next step.

Fall can bring several needs to the surface at the same time.

A family may be trying to manage food costs, housing concerns, healthcare appointments, transportation, school needs, employment changes, or emotional stress—all while trying to figure out which organization to contact first.

When everything feels urgent, start by organizing the situation.

Try this:

Write down the three needs creating the most immediate pressure.
Identify whether any need involves immediate safety or emergency care.
Note what you have already tried.
Gather the basic information or documents a resource may ask for.
Ask what the next realistic step is—not how to solve everything in one day.

DSFL’s Connected Pathways approach is designed to help people look at overlapping needs and identify possible resource or referral options. We may use Unite Us and other community resources as part of that process.

Availability, eligibility, location, funding, and provider capacity can affect what options exist.

If you want help identifying possible next steps, prepare your top three current needs and complete the DSFL Self-Referral for Support form.

If there is an immediate emergency, call 911, go to your nearest emergency room, or call/text 988.

If you spend your days taking care of other people, I want you to have a place where you can be cared for too. 💜

That is really the heart behind Self-Care Corner.

I created the group for mental health professionals who are used to being the one who listens, supports, holds space, problem-solves, and keeps going — even when they are tired themselves.

Self-Care Corner is meant to be a place where you can step out of the professional role for a moment and reconnect with yourself.

A place for encouragement.
A place for reflection.
A place to think about what actually helps you feel supported and well.

And as a little welcome, when you join the private group, you can choose one complimentary gift:

✨ Nourishing Your Soul: Uplifting Quotes for Mental Health Professionals

or

✨ Affirmation Cards for Mental Health Professionals

You’ll just cover shipping and handling.

The gift is nice — but what I really hope you find is a community that reminds you that you matter outside of what you do for everyone else.

If that sounds like something you could use, I’d love to have you join us in Self-Care Corner. 💜

Come in, get comfortable, and discover what works for you.

Having insurance does not always mean counseling is affordable, and being uninsured does not mean support is out of reach.

When cost is a barrier, useful questions to ask include:

Do you offer a reduced self-pay rate?
Are there sliding-scale or lower-cost options?
Is financial assistance available?
Are there community programs or referral partners I should explore?
If I have insurance, what will my deductible, copay, or coinsurance actually cost me?
Are there eligibility or documentation requirements I should know about?

DSFL may help individuals identify possible counseling or community-resource options based on their needs and current availability.

DSFL also has a Mental Health Services Voucher Program that may provide financial assistance toward counseling for eligible Georgia residents experiencing financial barriers to care. Voucher eligibility is not automatic. The voucher process is separate from the initial Connect Me / self-referral process and depends on application review, required documentation, approval, and available funding.

If you are not sure where to begin, complete the DSFL Self-Referral for Support form so we can review your needs and help identify possible next steps.

Caring well for people does not mean your church or ministry has to become the answer to every need.

Sometimes the most caring next step is recognizing when someone needs support beyond what your organization can provide—and helping them connect with an appropriate resource.

A thoughtful referral can be an extension of care.

Faith communities can support people well by:

• listening without judgment
• clarifying the immediate concern
• sharing current, appropriate resource information
• encouraging the individual to participate in the referral process
• knowing when community support, professional care, or emergency help is needed

Community support, professional care, and emergency response each have an important role.

A church may be able to offer encouragement, prayer, practical support, or connection. A licensed professional may be needed for assessment, treatment, or clinical guidance. And when someone is in immediate danger or crisis, emergency services are the appropriate next step.

Divine Solutions For Life is building relationships with churches, community organizations, healthcare professionals, mental-health providers, and nonprofits so that more people have clearer pathways to support.

DSFL is faith-based, but a person does not have to be Christian, belong to a church, or request faith-based support in order to seek assistance.
