🎙️ Myth Monday 💭
“They did it once so the skill is mastered.”
Not necessarily.
One of the biggest misconceptions about child development is that once a skill is learned, it should happen consistently. But development doesn’t work in a straight line.
A child’s performance can be affected by so many factors:
💛 Fatigue
🧠 Attention
⚡️ Regulation
🌎 Environment
😊 Motivation
Think about it—we all have days when we’re tired, distracted, or overwhelmed. Kids are no different.
In therapy, we’re looking for progress over time, not perfection every time.
So if your child struggles with a skill they seemed to have mastered yesterday, it doesn’t mean they’ve lost it. It may just mean they need support, practice, and another opportunity to succeed.
Growth isn’t linear—and that’s okay. 💛
