I turn 40 tomorrow, so I did what any grown woman in the A with a birthday coming up would do...

I wrote a rap about it… BARZ! 🎤

I shared the rap with y’all, and now I’m sharing the video.

What was dope was that my husband and my youngest were right there rapping along with me while I recorded.

Joy can be as simple as singing a jingle with your work bestie, or as big as writing a 30-second rap and recording it on a rooftop on a Saturday morning.

I’m grown, I’m glowing, and I’m just beginning!

My porch sat dirty since June. Every time I put it on the list I picked a slot where I had nothing left to give it, then felt bad when it didn’t get done.

Last week I came home from a workout, it was raining, and the energy was just there. Thirty minutes and it was finished.

Perimenopause gives me surges at odd hours. I used to find them annoying. I’m starting to plan around them instead.

Question: How do you plan your day?

That line has been sitting on me since Curvine Brewington preached at Victory Midtown this past Sunday. Nobody changes you all at once. They change you a little at a time, and by the time you notice, you already sound like them.

One thing the National PTA stressed to me as a Healthy Minds Fellow is that your brand does not turn off when you step outside professional spaces.

How we carry ourselves, even unintentionally, is our brand. People form opinions of us based on how we show up online and in real life.

What we do follows us, no matter what capacity we are operating in at the time.

A man was fired from a Mississippi real estate firm after a video showed him confronting a father for taking his two young daughters into a women's restroom. A JPMorgan executive was fired after she was filmed taking a city trash can off the street during the Knicks' championship parade. Both were filmed. Neither was on the clock.

What you do matters. So don't write a check your b***y can't cash.
