I'm currently in medical treatment, and you would not believe what it took to get here: two emergency room visits, one ambulance ride, admittance to the hospital for an overnight stay, and then finally referred out to where I needed to be, which is where I am now. My arms are like pincushions, I feel terrible, and the journey has been hard, but when I woke up early one morning to have this little guy land on my hand, I knew the universe was sending some reassurance my way.

Insurance companies have entirely too much power in this country. They act with zero medical knowledge of the patient, and make decisions that deeply impact human life with only their bottom line in mind. Humanity needs to step into the healthcare insurance industry. I am more than a number.

This thing is driving me nuts. This CO2 meter chirps randomly throughout the day and night…I can't tell you how many times I've woken up in the middle of the night to come out here to reset it to get it to stop chirping. There's nothing quite like being half asleep to come out here at 2:00 AM to stand on a bench to reset it. I HATE this thing.

Join me live today at 3:00 pm EST on TikTok to see how I'm settling into my new home, a room I rented with PadSplit, and to see a tour of the house. I've been here a week, have started sorting my things between what I will keep on hand and what will go into storage, and have met my new roommates. Hope to see you there! https://www.tiktok.com/.rosheck

The landlord gave me an ultimatum of either signing the lease or moving out in two days. Ultimately, I decided not to sign the lease, but when I didn’t respond fast enough to my hosts texts, she told me to move out by 5:00 pm the following day, which wasn’t enough time. When I explained that and told her that the state backs me up on this, she told me that she would be sending the property manager and “enforcement” to make sure I was completely moved out and to change the locks. Luckily, I was able to get into a new PadSplit in time, so I’m moving again.

After meeting my new roommate, I decided to see if I could stay here for a while until I could figure out what to do next. So, I asked my new landlord for a compromise, thinking maybe I could continue renting for a little while through PadSplit, but she was still dead set on getting me to leave PadSplit to sign a lease with her, and offered me a week for free and a deposit low enough that I can afford it. Not sure how I’d pull anything else off in time, not to mention my health situation is poor and I’m beyond exhausted. Exhausted was like two exits back. So, I ask for a little more time to think and rest.

I think it goes without saying, that the whole situation makes me uncomfortable; there are too many things not lining up: the downgraded room, conflicting stories between my roommate and landlord, the nonstop pressure under a short time constraint, and my lack of options putting me in a bad situation. There's no way I'm leaving PadSplit to sign a lease with this person, but she decides to give me an ultimatum: leave PadSplit to sign a lease with me, or move out in two days.

What's up with insurance companies deciding our healthcare? Why is this a thing? From my own experience, the decisions insurance companies make about what healthcare I will and will not receive have never been beneficial for my healing process. Who's making these decisions?

In this interview clip with Dr. Brad Montagne (), he answers that question, and the decisions aren't being made by someone who knows medically what you need; it's by statisticians whose priority isn't your health, but the bottom line. This business model not only impacts patients negatively, but also the doctor, whose hands become tied as to what care they can provide when insurance companies decide whether they will be paid or not.

From my own healing journey, this occurred with the care I received for my spine after a bad car accident. I had to go through specialty chiropractic care and physical therapy for years as I learned to walk properly again. When my insurance company decided that I had received enough treatment, my spine was still badly damaged, and because of that decision, I've lived with chronic pain for 20 years. To this day, I still need more treatment, and I wish I could say that this is uncommon or the only instance during my medical treatment that something like this has happened. This shouldn't be legal.

Why’s the answer almost always more prescription drugs?

Around 20 years ago, I was diagnosed as having an anxiety disorder and PTSD because I used to have daily panic attacks. The answers I received from the conventional medical system were talk therapy and prescription drugs, and I embraced this treatment plan wholeheartedly, but no matter how much I talked about it or how many times my meds were increased, the panic attacks continued until they blossomed into agoraphobia. Turns out, my anxiety and panic attacks were from two misdiagnosed head injuries, Lyme disease, and toxic mold exposure. To address these conditions in a manner that healed me instead of placing a Band-Aid over symptoms, I needed to leave the conventional system and go into alternative medicine. Today, my head injuries have healed and my other conditions are on their way. I no longer have panic attacks or agoraphobia, and I no longer need medication to keep myself from breaking down while doing the basic tasks other people take for granted.

The road to healing isn’t always a straight line, and sometimes my answers came from unexpected sources, but no matter how I got here, I’m so grateful to have made it. I’m now relaunching my life, awake from my head injuries for the first time since 2006, and relearning basic skills. However vastly challenging this may be for me, the gratitude is greater.

When Big Pharma is at the end of most standards of care, more suffers than just the patient's outcome; it also kills innovation in healthcare, which is the very thing we need the most as we wade through a chronic illness epidemic.

In this interview clip with Dr. Brad (Healthfully U), he discusses this phenomenon and how it occurs. Innovation, the very backbone of science, and the people who wield it, are supressed through lawsuits, slander campaigns, and risk losing everything as Big Pharma fights to keep it's choke hold on the healthcare industry.

Science needs its innovators, and patients need new treatment options if we are going to establish a standard of care for chronic illness and restore the health of our nation.

Moving Part 5.2: There are three rooms in this home, and my roommate told me that the third bedroom was being rented out as a short term rental on Airbnb, meaning that in the time that she lived here, random men were coming and going, knocking on her door and window at night, throwing parties, and bringing their families over. The last thing I wanted to do was share my bathroom with a bunch of randoms, but the landlord had assured me that she wouldn’t be renting out the third bedroom, meaning the bathroom would be mine, but it was listed for rent on PadSplit.

I knew I wouldn't be signing a lease with this person, and PadSplit was allowing me to transfer out instantly, but I was struggling to get the money together fast enough to leave as quickly as I wanted. So, I did something that I knew was a long shot and probably wouldn't work: I asked my landlord for a compromise, thinking that maybe I could stay a few more days and pay her through PadSplit because I could see her account was still active. She wasn't having it, and to see what she had in mind, stay tuned for part six.

Moving Part 5.1: I'd been in my new place for a few days when I met my new roommate for the first time, and what she had to say completely conflicts with what the landlord told me.

She came from Airbnb, not PadSplit, had been living in the room I rented for several months, where she paid almost double what I was quoted on PadSplit. The one thing that did line up was that she did leave Airbnb to sign a lease with the landlord and had to pay more money for the deposit. If all of that wasn't enough, what she had to say next literally shocked me.
