I see this every single day as a Doctor.
Women doing “everything right”… and the scale doesn’t move.

It’s not because you’re broken.
It’s because no one told you these 3 things matter most.

Here’s where I tell my patients to start:
1. Eat real food before coffee ☕
Stop starting your day with caffeine on an empty stomach.
That cortisol spike makes you hungrier all day long.
2. Walk for 10–20 minutes after one meal 🚶‍♀️
This is one of the easiest ways to lower blood sugar
and finally get the scale moving.
3. Stop eating “healthy carbs” by themselves 🍞
Toast alone
Fruit alone
Crackers alone

Pair them with protein and everything changes.

These aren’t extreme.
They’re not expensive.
But they work.

And when women actually do these consistently?
The scale finally starts moving.
Energy improves.
Cravings drop.
Blood sugar settles down.

You don’t need perfect.
You just need the right three things.

I see this all the time.

Coffee for breakfast.
Small lunch.
Maybe a salad with barely any protein.

Then 3pm hits…
and suddenly you’re starving, craving sugar, and picking at anything in sight.

It’s not lack of discipline.
It’s physiology.

When you skip protein + fat, your blood sugar rises quickly… then drops just as fast.
That drop is what drives:
• afternoon cravings
• constant snacking
• low energy
• overeating at dinner

This is why something as simple as sardines works.

They’re:
• 20+ grams of protein
• healthy fats
• zero sugar
• fast
• actually filling

And when you add spices + heat + lemon, they go from intimidating to honestly really good.

This is one of the easiest ways to stop the 3pm crash before it starts.

It took me having 2 kids to realize that making separate meals was exhausting… and completely unnecessary.

Now I build one dinner that works for everyone — including blood sugar.

Here’s the framework I use:

Start with protein (chicken, salmon, taco meat, eggs, etc.)
Add one veggie everyone recognizes (not something brand new every night)
Include a simple carb (rice, potatoes, pasta — portioned, not eliminated)
Put toppings on the side so kids feel in control
Add healthy fats so everyone stays full longer

This way:
My kids eat
My husband eats
I eat
And no one needs a separate meal

And the best part?
This is how you stabilize blood sugar without making “diet food.”

This is basically how most of my family dinners are structured now… and it’s made weeknights so much easier.
