📚🚑 REGION 3: BEYOND THE BEDSIDE | In the Literature

Great prehospital care starts long before the first patient encounter.

Our next physician spotlight features Dr. Alexander Isakov of Emory University School of Medicine, a contributing author of “The 2026 Core Content of Emergency Medical Services Medicine.”

Published in Prehospital Emergency Care, this important update helps define the knowledge, medical oversight, and operational expertise essential to EMS Medicine as the specialty continues to evolve.

We’re proud to highlight Region 3 physicians whose contributions to research, education, and leadership help shape the future of prehospital care—both here in Georgia and across the nation.

Research. Innovation. Leadership. Patient-Focused Collaboration.

Introducing: Region 3 | Beyond the Bedside 📚

Some of the expertise shaping trauma care is happening right here in Region 3. In this new series, we’ll highlight physicians from across our region whose research and publications give us something to think about, discuss, and potentially bring back to the bedside—and the field.

We’re kicking things off with James Infanzon, MD, FACEP, and the 2025 case report The Use of TRAUMAGEL® for Hemorrhage Control in a Complex Head Laceration. The report examines prehospital use of a novel hemostatic gel after traditional hemorrhage-control measures failed in a complex scalp wound—offering some serious food for thought about emerging tools for difficult-to-control bleeding.

National Teen Driver Safety Week 🚗💛

When it comes to protecting our youngest drivers, we are incredibly fortunate to have so many organizations, programs, and resources dedicated to education, awareness, and safer choices behind the wheel.

The resources highlighted here represent just a few of the countless partners working in our region and across Georgia to give teens, families, schools, and communities the tools they need to make our roads safer.

From seat belt use and distracted driving to impairment, responsible decision-making, and hands-on driver education, every conversation and every lesson is another opportunity to prevent a crash before it happens.

We are grateful for all those doing this important work—because preventing trauma and tragedy will always be one of the most important things we can do for our teens. 💙💛
