The first official football Sunday of the season is here! Whether you're cheering from the couch, hosting a crowd, or heading to a stadium, game day snacks are a must...but don't let food safety get lost in the excitement! Keep your favorite game day foods safe with these simple tips:

🏈 Keep hot foods hot and keep cold foods cold!
🏈 Never leave food out at room temperature for more than 2 hours!
🏈 If a food tray is getting low, don't add fresh food to it! This can make it difficult to determine how long food has been at room temperature for.
🏈 Clean your hands, utensils, and surfaces to avoid cross contamination.
🏈 Be mindful of the allergies and dietary restrictions of your guests!

Shopping at a farmers' market or grocery store that offers local produce? Look for foods that are in season! Eating fruits and vegetables that are in season can be a budget-friendly choice that allows you to try tasty new flavors throughout the year. 🌽🍎🥕

In September, we can still enjoy many of our late-summer favorites including sweet corn and peaches, while also beginning to see some fall staples such as apples!

💡Want to make those summer favorites last even longer? Freeze them! Freezing produce is a safe way to save food for an extended period of time. This way, you don't waste food or money and get to enjoy summer treats throughout the winter! Check out this how-to video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yeseZppoIKk&t=72s
