We celebrated 12 outstanding pharmacy residents at the Wellstar MCG Health Pharmacy Residency Graduation, marking a major milestone: the program’s 50th anniversary.

From its beginnings in 1975 to becoming a nationally respected program, this residency has helped shape the next generation of pharmacy leaders and strengthen patient care for our communities. Congratulations to the Class of 2026, and thank you to the faculty, preceptors and mentors whose dedication continues to build a brighter future for healthcare at Wellstar and beyond.

At Wellstar MCG Health, the 500th Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR) procedure has been completed, marking a significant achievement for our cardiovascular team. This minimally invasive, lifesaving treatment for severe aortic stenosis involves replacing the diseased aortic valve to help restore blood flow and improve heart function and daily activity.

At Wellstar MCG Health, we paused together last Thursday to honor the true meaning of Memorial Day and to remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation. Joined by team members, veterans, and community partners, we reflected on the courage, selflessness, and dedication of those who gave their lives so others may live in freedom. We were grateful to the North Augusta High School JROTC for the presentation of colors and flag ceremony, the moving performance of Military Taps, our talented trio for their beautiful rendition of the National Anthem, and Wellstar MCG Health Lab Director and Army veteran Kellie Vinson for sharing a heartfelt commemorative poem.

At Wellstar MCG Health, service takes many forms, and every day our team members dedicate themselves to caring for others in moments of need. This Memorial Day, we pause to honor those whose service came at the ultimate cost and remember the heroes who never made it home.

From advanced technology in every patient room to the operating rooms, This hospital was built with the future of healthcare in mind and with our community at the center of it all.

Wellstar Columbia County Medical Center is nearing completion and is scheduled to open Aug. 26. The six-story, 100-bed hospital is located at 5000 Gateway Blvd. in Grovetown.
